CASING PROPERTIES

This program uses the API formulas and tables in Bulletin 5C3 to calculate the properties of all grades an
weights of OCTG API standard tubular. To use it, input your information in the table on the spreadsheet.
You can enter as many size weight grade configurations as the table will hold. You may only enter data in
yellow shaded boxes. All other information is locked to prevent accidental changes. For a List of the wei
associated with a given OD size, enter the pipe OD in inches into the box at cell "C8". The program will
indicate all weights available in the API lookup table.

The output tables which will be printed are immediately below the input screen. To the immediate right of
input screen are auxillary tables providing guidance as to when higher strength couplings will be required
In the output tables you will note that leakage at the E7 plane is presented as the leak resistance of the
coupling. For 8 and 10 round, the three principal failure modes are presented, to give the designer
information onthe failure mode of the tubular in question. Also listed for reference is the tolerance on the
nominal diameters and applicable drift diameter for a standard 12 in casing drift and a 42 in tubing drift.

Note that you will find many small differences between numbers in this sheet, and those listed in the API.
This is due to variations in the API Tables. Due to formulae changes, test improvements and clerical err
many early API product sizes actually have better performance than listed. API tables do not reflect these
changes.
