Narrated by Ryan Reynolds, The Whale is the true story

of a young killer whale, an orca nicknamed Luna, who
makes friends with people after he gets separated from his
family on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. As rambunctious and surprising as a visitor from another planet, Luna endears himself to humans
with his determination to make contact, which leads to
laughter, conflict and unexpected consequences.

On Saturday, August 13, The Grand Seduction (2014) at
Kokanee Creek Park (off highway 3A - north of Nelson).
A small fishing village must procure a local doctor to
secure a lucrative business contract. When unlikely candidate and big city doctor Paul Lewis lands in their lap for a
trial residence, the townsfolk rally together to charm him
into staying. As the doctor' s time in the village winds to a
close, acting mayor Murray French has no choice but to
pull out all the stops and begin the grand seduction.

Creek Park (off highway 3A - north of Nelson).
Rajveer Singh is a 21 year old young man dreaming of a
professional hockey career. Unquestionably, he has the talent
to be an accomplished player, but faces many hurdles, the
biggest of which is himself. Unable to find a foothold in the
game, Rajveer takes matters into his own hands by creating an
all Indian hockey team (The Speedy Singhs), finding a coach
and then bringing on his Uncle Sammy' s trucking company
as the team sponsor, doing all this behind his father' s back.
Breakaway, full of love, color and fun brings to the life the
coming of age of a young man and gives further insight into
the immigrant family experience. It brings a clash of Bollywood entertainment to Canada' s favourite sport.

For Restorative Justice
Nelson Police Department Restorative Justice (NPDRJ)

is a community based program that facilitates dialogue
in the aftermath of crime and other harmful behaviour.
Our program seeks to empower participants to share their
experiences and to explore collaborative ways to repair
the harm. NPDRJ facilitators work to design a restorative
response that meets the needs of all participants by providing victims with the opportunity to express how the
incident has impacted them, helping offenders understand the impact of their actions and empowering them to
take responsibility for the harm caused. They create value
by strengthening mutual understanding to build consensus for a meaningful, reasonable, and fair resolution.
We are currently recruiting dedicated volunteers for the
position of a restorative justice facilitator. Because of the
seriousness and sensitive nature of the work we do, we are
very discerning about which applicants we select as volunteers for the program. We cannot guarantee that everyone
who applies will be accepted and we request your understanding if you are not selected to participate in the training.
