MINESWEEPER
To attempt to dispose of a mine marker, the minesweeping
ship must have its sweeper system activated by noting
this in its orders for that turn. It must then pass within 3
MU of the mine during the course of its movement, and
at that point 1D6 is rolled. On a score of 1, the mine immediately
attacks the minesweeper, detonating and causing
damage as normal. On a roll of 2, the mine does not
attack, but is also not disabled; it remain in position and
can attack other ships as normal. On rolls of 3 to 6, the
minesweeper system succeeds in disabling the mine safely:
the mine marker is removed from play.
A minesweeper can attempt to dispose of all the mines it
passes within range of in one turn.
When a ship is using a minesweeping system in active
mode, it may not use any offensive weapon systems in that
same turn; it may use defensive weaponry and any screens
as normal.

FEDERATION SPECIAL RULES


Full power to shields!!!
The federation has the most advanced shield technology in the
galaxy. During the order writing phase the federation player
may increase his shield strength by one level by simply writing
Reinforce on his ships orders. The Klingons call it la'SIv da
or loosely translated as Turtling up.
To do so the ship may not have taken any damage to its shield
generators, even if its been repaired. The ship may not apply
more than HALF its available thrust/maneuver or fire weapons
during the turn. It may fire PDS as normal. ADS may fire as
well but due to the power demands they may only fire as a
single PDS out to 6mu.
In effect the ship gains an extra shield so a ship with one shield
will count as having two and a ship with two will count as having
three. In that event, Penetrating weapons will not get their
usual re-rolls.
