IN THIS ASSESSMENT YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO:

Research the history of cosmetics/ibuprofen and construct a timeline of the main


discoveries/process
Research and explain how your chosen cosmetic/ibuprofen is made
Research and list the ingredients in your cosmetic/ibuprofen pill and explain what
each one does
Explain the usefulness of your product to society
You must ensure you show chemical formulae and/or equations in your report
Keep a record of your research

To get a Merit you will need to:

Explain the Chemistry of your compound in more detail with particular reference to
new developments. This may include explaining how the substance is made and/or
explaining in more detail the chemistry of how ingredients work and what they do

To get an Excellence you will need to:

Evaluate how the Chemistry influenced the development of the technology how did
our changing understanding of chemistry and chemical processes allow the
development of this product and what implications does this product have for
society?
