2. Getting Started
2.1
Included Items :
1. Trap Intact
2. User Manual.
2.2 Installing the product
1. The Trap must be fitted with float arm in a horizontal
plane, so that it rises and falls vertically. Therefore the
arrow on the name plate must point downwards. This
means the trap can be fitted in vertical connections
with top inlet to bottom or in horizontal connections
with flow from right to left. A trap with flow from right to
left is supplied as standard. However the orientation
can be changed on site by undoing the four cover bolt
and moving the cover to the preferred flow orientation.
A new cover gasket must always be fitted.
2. A strainer should be fitted before the trap.
3. A spira-tec sensor chamber should be installed so
that wrong working of the trap can be checked on line.
4. Group trapping is not recommended since it results
into water hammer.
5. Lift to be avoided after the trap.
3. Fixing Problems
3.1 Trouble Shooting.
1. FT14CI does not pass condensate
a. Check that the actual pressure to which the trap is
subjected is not greater than the maximum operating
pressure marked on the trap. In such a case, the trap
will not pass condensate since the float buoyancy will
not be adequate to open the valve seat.
b. Check the differential pressure across the trap is
subjected to a maximum of, maximum differential
pressure indicated on the trap. Any increase in
differential pressure beyond the maximum limit, the
float buoyancy will not be adequate to open the valve
seat.
c. Check the trap for dirt fouling on the main valve seat.
d. Ensure that the trap is not subjected to water hammer.
e. If a steam lock release is fitted check that it is not opened
too far. (One quarter of a full turn is normally more than
sufficient.).
