FINANCIAL AUDIT (Reports to be used Progress Reports, Cash book, Receipts
and Payments, Bank Stmts or deposit slips)
1. What is the cash as per cash book and physical cash available in the
branch at 6.00 am (count all bundles), (Cash as per cash book minus
physical cash = amount given for LD)
2. From the progress report find out how many new members joined,
calculate the GRF that the branch should have collected for these and
cross check this figure with Receipts and Payments Register.
3. Do a similar exercise for the Interest Charged and Collected weekly. If the
branch is charging 12.5% and in the same period if there are no
preclosures then the interest collected should be 12.5% of the principal
recovered in the same period.
4. Insurance Premium should be 1% of loan disbursed. (LD will be under
payments and Insurance Premium will be under receipts) similarly check
for upfront interest.
5. Check if the BM is calculating the demand for recovery correctly or not?
6. Is the branch collecting the 5 week interest as per preclosure policy or
not?
7. Check if the cash balance + bank account balance being maintained by
the branch is as per policy? Check for last 7 days, out of last 7 days how
many days did the branch have

8. Are the salary advances being recovered in the next salary only and not
carried forward to next month?

Check quality of applications, DPNs and other documents (overwriting, missing
signatures, no info captured, legibility etc)

1. Do they have a computer, printer and internet connection?
2. Check the circular file to see if all circulars are upto date, signed by all and
filed. (Is the BM sharing the content of the circulars with the CAs)
3. How many CAs and BM have a TW?
4. How was the appearance of the branch?
5. Check the minutes book of the weekly BM meeting. Cross check with CAs
on issues discussed in last meeting (sometimes BMs write the book on
their own without conducting the meeting)
6. Did you observe an effective team management by the BM? Take feedback
from CAs (one on one)
