Week 3 Reflection
This week in class was all about research. We talked about how to do research, how to
cite, and different types of research. We talked about the importance of research and how to do it.
We talked about using keywords and how to organize research into a research log. Below is an
example of the research log I had created.
Research Log
Citation: Frantti, Jim . "Changing Values in a Changing Society" Toronto. AALC. Presentation at Elders and Speakers Meeting.1993.
Date Accessed: 7/22/16
Type of Source: Secondary Source, Speech
Inquiry Questions Answered: How does being a Christian influence someones life?
Keywords: Christianity, Society, Today
Summary + Commentary: In this speech, Jim talks about how society is changing and becoming further apart from a Christian society and how we can change it. I think he mainly wanted to
open our eyes. I find this interesting from a view point of me, a non-Christian.
Further Questions: How are things changing now that affects society, that hasnt been affected hundreds of years ago?

Citation: Howsepian, A.A. "Is Christianity bad for your health" Christian Research Journal. 38.2 (2015). Print.
Date Accessed: 7/22/2016
Type of Source: Primary Source, Journal Article
Inquiry Questions Answered: How does being a Christian influence somes life?
Keywords: Christian, Health
Summary + Commentary: This article talks about how the religion is misleading and tells people that all you need to be healthy is a strong Christian life. That if you believe in god that you will
be well. This is definitely an interesting article.
Further Questions: Why do some people ignore science over religion when it comes to health more than other things like technology or chemistry?

Citation: Flannagan, Mathew. "Is it immoral to believe in god?" Christian Research Journal. 38.4 (2015). Print.
Date Accessed: 7/22/2016
Type of Source: Primary Source, Journal Article
Inquiry Questions Answered: How does being a Christian influence someones life?
Keywords: Christians, morality, god
Summary + Commentary: He talks about how people become confused with the purpose of the religion and deem it as immoral due to the fact that radicals are evil and mislead people about
what the religion actually stands for. He goes on to talk about the existence of god and how it is not that simple.
Further Questions: Why isnt the existence of god simple? Why does it have to be complicated, it did not seem to be all that complicated thousands of years ago when we were less educated?

Date Accessed: 7/22/2016
Type of Source: Secondary Source, Online Article
Inquiry Questions Answered: Why do we have Christianity?
Keywords: Does God Exist
Summary + Commentary: This brief article explains how one of the smartest men alive says he can prove that god doesnt exist through science
Further Questions: Can he show us through scientific methods?

Citation: Goodstein, Laurie and Perez-Pena, Richard. "Minnesota Priests Memo Says Vatican Ambassador Tried to Stifle Sex Abuse Inquiry" The New York Times. July 20, 2016. Newspaper
Article.
Date Accessed: 7/22/2016
Type of Source: Secondary Source, Newspaper Article
Inquiry Questions Answered: How does being a Christian influence someones life?
Keywords: Current, Christian News, Scandal
Summary + Commentary: This article goes over how an Archbishop was ordered to destroy evidence by the church. I am curious as to why major Christian churches and organizations feel the
need to hide or cover up scandals and such as they all go against the practice of their religion. They very existence of some of the scandals contradict the very meaning of their religions
messages.
Further Questions: Why would they cover it up? Why do we find these kind of scandals in places that are not supposed to condone this kind of behavior?

This was the first research log I had ever created. This helped me understand more about
the processes that go into doing research and citing them. I also became better at finding different
articles and doing the research I needed for the project.

I search various websites supporting my targeted claims and proposal as well as some
going against them. Overall I learned a lot this week that will help my paper evolve and grow
using the information I have learned.
