Belcor 575 the Proven, TESTABLE, All-Organic Corrosion Inhibitor

Alternative to Higher Cost Sodium Molybdate
Experiencing the skyrocketing cost of sodium
molybdate?
Are bottom line profits being eroded by rising and
unpredictable molybdate pricing?
Regain profit margin by switching to Belcor

575.

With Belcor 575 you get improved corrosion

performance and a far better cost to use profile. Belcor
575 can restore the profitability of water treatment
programs hit by spiralling sodium molybdate costs.
Cost of Molybdate Tracing Ions
Tracing ions like sodium molybdate just add to cost of
goods sold, end user costs, and reduce the competitive
edge of the water treatment company.
The cost per lb of sodium molybdate is now more than
twice what is was a year ago. Using molybdate as a
tracing ion is becoming prohibitively expensive.
For example; use of 5% sodium molybdate in a
formulation would cost $225 per drum (100 ppm of
formulation to give 5 ppm of molybdate in the system
water at a cost of $9.00 per lb ($19.84/kg) in a 500lb
(225kg approx) drum of formulation.

Performance of Belcor 575

Belcor 575, 50% aqueous hydroxyphosphonoacetic
acid, is a unique all-organic corrosion inhibitor
specifically developed to meet the demands of modern
cooling and water systems. In combination with
stabilising and dispersing additives, Belcor 575 is a
powerful tool in the formulation of high performance
corrosion inhibitor programs. The following example
illustrates the performance benefits and cost reduction
potential of replacing 10 ppm sodium molybdate used
as a corrosion inhibitor with just 5 ppm of Belcor 575 for
a high cycle scaling but also highly corrosive water.

Replace sodium molybdate with Belcor 575 weight for

weight and save at least $120 per drum!

If the cost of sodium molybdate rises even more the

savings with Belcor 575 are even greater.

The cost of sodium molybdate fluctuates widely as it is

mined and speculated on world metals exchanges while
Belcor 575, a manufactured corrosion inhibitor, has
never experienced these wild fluctuations in price. In
addition, Belcor 575 is a well known ferrous metal
corrosion inhibitor. Why pay exorbitant prices for
tracing ions when you can pay substantially less for
Belcor 575, a proven, testable direct corrosion
inhibitor.

Further additional benefits;

Belcor 575 is an environmentally acceptable additive
in water treatment and has a good biodegradability
profile. This makes it especially suited to those
geographic regions where molybdate discharge is
regulated at very low levels.

Belcor 575 can be formulated to give effective, high

performance all-organic programs. Studies confirm
that Belcor 575 combines well with calcium ions to
produce an effective, tenacious film at cathodic sites
on mild steel surfaces. This film suppresses the
cathodic corrosion reaction and therefore the overall
corrosion process. The film formed does not
interfere with efficient heat transfer.
Concerned about molybdate testing versus Belcor
575? Belcor 575 is a phosphonate based compound
and therefore widely available standard organophosphonate test kits will recognise the Belcor 575
molecule. Kits that buffer pH and complex fluoride
and halogens are recommended for best accuracy.

If your formulation contains both Belcor 575 and

Belclene 660 (HEDP) or other phosphonate
material, just add the total organo-phosphonate
providers and control the system on the sum of the
phosphonate components. For example; if you had
5% of molybdate (to give 5ppm) and 3 ppm (active)
of HEDP, replace the molybdate with Belcor 575 at
the same concentration i.e. 5%. 5ppm Belcor 575
as product will give 2.5ppm as active ingredient +
3ppm active HEDP = 5.5ppm of total organic
phosphonate
Belcor 575 can be stabilised in the presence of
halogen based biocides such as sodium

hypochlorite, LiquiBrom (sodium bromide), and

BromiCide (BCDMH). Contact your local
