AT&T Foundation Contributes

To College Prep Program

Wendy Nadel, YPIE executive director; and Ed Bergstraesser, AT&T director of external
affairs.

More than 60 students were greeted RECENTLY by Ed Bergstraesser, AT&Ts Director of External Affairs, as he presented a
$35,000 check to Yonkers Partners in Education. The generous grant reflects a two-year
commitment by the AT&T Foundation to support YPIEs work to increase the number of
Yonkers students who complete a post-secondary program.
Bergstraesser described AT&Ts steadfast
support of YPIE as a result of the companys
commitment to advancing education, strengthening communities and improving lives.
AT&T has a long history of investing in
projects that create learning opportunities, promote academic and economic achievement, and
this is exactly what is happening at the YPIE
Summer College Prep Academy, he said.
YPIE is blessed by wonderful supporters
like the AT&T foundation and we are so grateful for their continued generosity, ADDED
YPIE Executive Director Wendy Nadel.
Following the check presentation, students
were addressed by Westchester County Legislator Virginia Perez, who has also been a strong
supporter and advocate of YPIEs work with

thousands of Yonkers students.

Students present are participants in YPIEs
six-week Summer College Prep Academy, a
program for high school seniors that focuses on
all aspects of the college application process including SAT/ACT prep classes, college essaywriting, and developing college lists. Students
will end the summer program with a completed
common application and college essay, as well
as a thoughtful college list.
The program takes place at the new YPIE
College Zone, a free-standing center focused
on providing academic support, enrichment
services and sparking students interests in the
world.
Yonkers Partners in Educations mission
is to increase the number of Yonkers Public
School students who complete a post-secondary program that prepares them for a successful career. It partners with the Yonkers Public
School District, business and philanthropic
communities and higher education institutions
and relies on detailed data to drive decisions
and programs. For more information, visit

Jackson is a sweet mixed-breed dog that
weighs about 30 pounds. Hes 2 years old and

its home and had no place for Jackson and the
family cats to go. Volunteers dont know his
exact breed, but think he might be a Chihuahua
mixed with a corgi.
Jackson will make a lucky family a won-

derful companion. Hes sweet and gentle and

loves everyone hes met. Hes affectionate and
while he enjoys playing, he will be a dog who
is just happy to be with his person whatever
