All questions are compulsory.


The question paper consists of 29 questions divided into three sections, A, B and C.
section A comprised of 10 questions of one mark each, Section B comprises of 12
questions of 12 questions of four marks each and Section C comprises of 7 questions of
six marks each.
All questions in Section A are to be answered in one word, one sentence or as per the
exact requirement of the questions.
There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in 4 questions
of four marks each and 2 question of six marks each. You have to attempt only one of the
alternatives in all such questions.
Use of calculator is not permitted.

Section A

taken from mean their means is 50.
8. Write down all the subsets of the set {-3,0,1}.
9. Find the octant in which {-2,3,1} lie.
10. Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the line joining the point A(-3,5,7) and B (5,6,3).

11. Prove that tan 50=2tan 10 + tan 40

Prove that ( cos x + cos y ) + (sin x sin y ) 2 = 4 cos 2 ( x + y ) / 2

conjugate of each other.
19. A relation R is defined on the set Z of integers as follows:
( x, y ) R = x 2 + y 2 = 25 . Express R and R 1 as the sets of ordered pairs and hence find their
respective domains.
20. The mean and standard deviation of six observation are 8 and 4 respectively. If each
observation is multiplied by 3, find the new mean and new standard deviation.
21. Find the ratio in which the line segment joining the points (4, 8, 10) and (6, 10, -8) is divided
by the YZ plane.
22. Three vertices of a parallelogram ABCD are A (3, -1, 2), B (1, 2, -4) and C (-1, 1, 2). Find the
coordinates of the fourth vertex.
Section C
23. In a survey of 150 people, it was found that 40 read Hindi newspaper, 45 read English
newspaper, 35 read Urdu newspapers, 15 read Hindi and English newspaper, 12 read
English and Urdu newspapers, 10 read Hindi and Urdu newspapers and 5 read all the three
newspapers. Find
a) How many read none of these newspapers?
b) How many read Hindi newspaper only?
