Party Manifesto

Statement of Aims:
The purpose and vision for the Black n Blue party is to make a
difference at Knox. We aim to utilise our strengths in politics to
successfully campaign our party. In effect, successfully gaining
the votes the students.
We aim to do our individual part to successfully market our
party whilst at the same time working as a team, at the Black
n Blue Party, teamwork is a huge focus on our campaign. This
is evident in the way we work but it is also evident in our Main
Policy, making Laser Tag and Paintball an available team sport
at Knox.
The vision for our political party, is to create an environment in
which Knox boys can be most effective and productive, whether
it be on the sporting field or in the classrooms, we will strive for
the interests of the Knox boys. By drafting and proposing our
bills we will enhance the environment of the Knox Preparatory
and Senior School
We envision the boys to grow academically, culturally, socially
and on the sporting field. Therefore, by introducing our policies,
we will hopefully change Knox for the better, and Shoot towards
a better future.
Explanation as to why existing conditions at Knox are not
adequate
Key Policy: The introduction of a student council that reviews
the decisions made by the school to make sure they focus on
the well being of the students.
Conditions at Knox currently do not meet the standards of the
men of Knox, which is due to the simple issue of boys not being

able to put forward their ideas and promote their interests, thus
the policy will help the boys to achieve this.
Policy 1: Prep School (Boys have a preference for a buddy/mate
in their classes for the upcoming year)
The transition from the prep school to the senior school is a
very scary experience for the boys, walking into a new school is
intimidating enough but walking into a new class and seeing no
one you know can be even more intimidating.
Policy 2: Amending yearly exam period structure to allow for
boys to only have to attend Exams, instead of classes after and
before exams
Knox yearly exam timetable in years 9,10 and 11 are not
adequate. During the exam week, students are forced to attend
all other periods. This steals focus from the exams and pushes
it into other subjects creating stress and anxiety towards
exams.
Policy 3: Introducing Laser tag and paintball as a sport for the
junior school and senior school respectively
Current sports at Knox are outdated and tedious to some. We
believe that the introduction of a unique and ingenuitive sport
will create and boost morale.
Policy 4 : Amending school times to commence school at 11:30
AM and end at 5:00 PM
Amending the School times will allow for the boys to be
prepared for the a challenging day at school, thus it will create
time for preparation, revision for tests, sports and exercise.
Changing the times will also allow for boys to have a healthier
and positive sleep which will enhance their work ethic in and
out of the classroom.

Key Policy: The introduction of a student council that reviews

the well being of the students.
The policy which we are aiming to endorse, will create a
structure in which the men of Knox can provide
recommendations and strategies to further improve the school.
It will also allow for policies made by Senior staff to be reviewed
in the interests of the boys, if the decision may be impractical.
Policy 3: Introducing Laser tag and paintball as a sport for the
junior school and senior school respectively
We believe adding a new sport (laser tag and paintball) will
bring a new exciting contemporary sport to the school that
many boys will be interested in.
We believe that by commencing laser tag and paintball as a
sport to Knox, will bring a new exciting sport as well as boost
moral in its very unique style. Players will play against other
schools and clubs, with teams being ranked. Due to safety
concerns only Senior boys will be allowed to play paintball,
which involves year 10, 11 and 12s and laser tag will be open
to all junior boys ( 7, 8, 9 ). We hope that the introduction of a
new sport will prove results
Side Policy 1: Prep School (Boys have a preference for a
buddy/mate in their classes for the upcoming year)
We believe giving prep school boys a chance to select a friend
to be in their core classes for the first year of senior school will
boost morale whilst simultaneously benefiting their experience
and enrich their experience during the transition from prep to
senior schools.
Policy 2: Amending exam period structure to allow for boys to
only have to attend Exams, instead of classes after and before
exams
We believe that if students have the opportunity to only attend
school for the exam during exam periods, will better suit
students, creating more time for studying and preparation. It

will also help students adjust to a HSC like experience and will
also help students achieve greater marks as it will eliminate the
stress of other subjects not being tested at that moment.

Policy 4: Amending school times to commence school at 11:30

AM and end at 5:00 PM
By amending school timings to commence school at 11:30 AM
to 5:00 PM, it will allow for boys to sleep for longer periods of
time, and will be more suitable for the majority of students. We
believe that it will create time for people to be prepared for
school in the mornings, which will see reduction of late
students. This will boost and enhance students activity and
participation at school

After all Knox Grammar School, is meant to be focused on the
boys attending and providing fees to go to this prestigious
school, thus by creating a structure it allows for boys to create
better interaction, with a school. Often boys have great ideas to
change the school, however have issues creating policies, due
to their lower hierarchy.

Often preparatory students entering a new school are
overwhelmed with stress of new boys, new teachers and a
bigger school, thus a friend being a companion will help
immensely to the overall development of the boys.
Policy 2 : Amending exam period structure to allow for boys to
only have to attend Exams, instead of classes after and before
exams

Often Knox students are exhausted and worn out after finishing
an exam, thus attending classes afterwards provides no
benefits to the boys, also it optimises the amount of time in
which they get to study and prepare for exams which is a
similar structure to the upcoming HSC exams.
Policy 3 : Introducing Laser tag and paintball as a sport for the
junior school and senior school respectively
Laser tag will appeal to many of the Knox boys since the target
market for paintball laser tag is predominantly young boys,
which fits the description of the Knox boys, we also believe this
will be a very unique policy compared to other political policies
which will draw attention to our party for being original

Time and sleep is a privilege which the men of Knox lack,
therefore creating more time and sleep for Knox boys will
create better performances.

The policy possibly may be informal, but substantiating
the policy with evidence will allow for us to competitively
compete against the other parties.
Safety issues that will be imposed by the school
Policy 1: Prep School (Boys have a preference for a buddy/mate
in their classes for the upcoming year)
There is already forms of leadership placed for new
preparatory boys, the Black n Blue party believes it is not
adequate enough.

Knox will not be charging parents for the usual classes
during exam period, which may have negative
connotations
Learning time will be lost but funneled into personal study

The structure might allow for improper use of reviewing
decisions, thus some boys may abuse the system, however we
will place a student who has a history of reliability and trust of
the teachers, to prevent abuse of the system.

Our campaigning strategy will involve the use of many
engaging multimedia platforms to attract potential voters
towards the Black and Blue party.

essential key to engage voters, where we will consistently use
the Black and Blues political partys slogan: Shooting Knox
towards a better future.

Furthermore, the Black and Blue political party believes setting
up a website with all of the information about our campaign is a
reliable source of information. Our website consists of policies,
members of our party and overall perspective on our political
party. Our website is very accessible and easy to read.
Edmodo
Edmodo is a great media platform to get out valuable
information to the target audience. Similar to the website it will
be a reliable source
Poster
Our posters will include pictures of our party leader and eyecatching photos that will grab the attention of the voters. We
will also place big, bold and attention grabbing text that will
lure voters into reading our posters. After the voters are deep
into reading our posters, we will provide details on how and
why to vote and also the reasoning behind
