I. Destination Acutouch
Acupuncture Definition
Piercing a sharp instrument in a specific location and a
particular point of the body for healing purpose is a
sufficient definition for our understanding.

Evolution of Acupuncture
The Origin and development of Acupuncture is generally
attributed to the Chinese people. This is only a partial
truth, because this art was known to the rest of the
world through China.
There are evidences that the ancient Tamils and
Chinese were in touch, through frequent visits of
travelers. Some of the techniques pertaining to warfare
and medicine said to have travelled to China through
them. Occasionally the saints are said to have gone to
China and taught them a few skills thousands of years
ago.
One such art Varmam an established practice in
ancient Tamilnadu is said to be the cause for birth of
Acupincture. Both these arts share some common
features even today.

The Chinese Acupuncture system is now known as

classical Acupuncture. Though it has a long history and
possesses rich healing merits, it still remains an art
which is difficult to master.

Sujok Acupuncture
Professor Park Jae Woo, a Korean exponent and teacher
of Chinese Acupuncture invented and developed the art
of Sujok Acupuncture. Su-Jok means Hand and Foot.
The entire body of ours has its semblance in a hand or
foot which we have learnt in previous lessons of
Correspondence Systems. Same way, the meridians also
have their similarities in Hand and Foot. The area of
meridians are still reduced from Hand and Foot, to
fingers, which are called Byol Meridians.
Flow of energy in a particular path is known as
Meridian.
Thus the Sujok Acupuncture is a simpler version of the
complicated Chinese Acupuncture.
In Sujok Acupuncture, it is necessary to know the
followings.
1. Location of body parts and organs in a hand or
foot.

2. Pattern of flow of Six energies (Six Ki) through

Meridians in hand and foot.
3. Flow of Meridian in two fingers especially the
index and middle fingers.
4. The five
Meridian.

Specially designed needles were used in Sujok

Acupuncture, which are now replaced with different
kinds of small magnets.

Indian Acupuncture
A modified form of Chinese Acupuncture is known as
Indian Acupuncture. This art is developed by two
allopathic doctors, Dr. Fazlur Rahman and Dr. Siddique
Jamal, generally known as Doctor Brothers. In this
method also, the needles were used initially, which
practice is replaced by the Touch Method. This is
popularly known as Acutouch.
The two specialties of Indian Acupuncture method are,
1. Pulse reading for diagnostic purpose
2. Acutouch for healing purpose.

Sujok Acutouch
To make the acu-healing plain and simple and accurate
at the same time, the best features of Sujok
Acupuncture and Indian Acupuncture are integrated

into one healing method which we call as Sujok

Acutouch.

II. Vital Energy and its flow

Vital Energy is the one which enables the body and its
systems to carry out their functions. Vital Energy is
received through many sources. The food and water we
consume, the air we breathe, the sunshine to which we
are exposed are main sources of our Vital Energy.
We have innumerable sweat glands through which the
waste and toxins are thrown out. Apart from this, the
tiny holes in sweat glands receive the natural energies
from Universe.
These energies are integrated into one, which is known
as Vital Energy.
Vital Energy flows and circulates throughout our body
and the path through which the Vital Energy flows is
called Meridian.
There are five elements, which produce five different
energies. They are :
Elements

Energies

Wood

Wind

Fire

Heat, Hotness

Earth

Humidity

Metal

Dryness

Water

Coolness

The Fire element produces two distinct Energies, Heat

and Hotness. Therefore the actual number of Energies
is six. The six Energies are called Six Ki in Sujok
Acupuncture system.
The Six Ki flows in our body as paired Meridians
according to YIN YANG principle. Thus there are twelve
Meridians on left and right sides of our body.
The twelve Meridians are named as follows.

There were others who thought that the mind is located

in Brain and so, the term Pericardium is used to denote
the mind and also the Brain.

For our purpose, let us follow the latter meaning for the
term Pericardium. At the same time we should
remember that it refers to the subtle organ, mind.

11.

As the Backbone controls the nervous system, it is

known as Triple Energizer.

12.

Apart from the twelve Meridians, there are two

Meridians which run through the center of our body
one in front side and the other at the back. The Yin
Meridian is called Conception Vessel and Yang
Meridian is Governor Vessel. Activation of Conception
and Governor Vessels is explained in the chapter
Chakra Healing.
The organ Brain is also known as Pericardium and the
Backbone as Triple Energizer (Triple Warmer). There
seems to be some confusion in this regard.
There are organs which have material form and there
are few which do not have the material form. They are
known as subtle organs. Mind is one such subtle organ.
The Mind was assumed to be located in Heart, so it was
mentioned as over or around the Heart. Thus the term
Pericardium came into existence.

We now know that each Meridian is the path for the

flow of a particular energy. E.g.
The energy Wind flows through the paired Meridians
Liver and Gall bladder.
At the same time we should also know that in each
Meridian, the other energies also pass through as
Branch Energies. E.g.
The Liver and Gall bladder Meridians, apart from their
main energy Wind, they also have the other energies as
Branch Energy.
All the Meridians, along with their points of Branch
Energies are shown in individual diagrams.

III. Interaction among the energies of

five elements
There are four types of interactions known as
relationship among the five element energies. They are :

Anti-creation
Instead of the natural flow of energy, if it flows in
opposite direction, it is called the anti-creation. E.g.
Wood anti-creates water
Water anti-creates Metal

Creative cycle pattern

Metal anti-creates Earth

Here, one Energy creates the other. That is to say that

natural flow of energy takes place from one organ to
another organ. E.g.

Earth anti-creates Fire

Fire anti-creates Wood.

Wood creates Fire.

Water

Fire creates Earth

Earth creates Metal

Metal

Wood

Metal creates water

Water creates Wood
Earth

Metal

Fire

Wood

Flow of energy against its natural flow is anti-creation

which means illness.

Earth

Fire

Subjugation
The energy flow has to be maintained at an optimum
level. If more energy is drawn by one organ, the other
organ suffers from lack of energy. To prevent this, there
is a controlling system which is known as Subjugation.
E.g.

Anti-subjugation

Wood subjugates Earth

Wood anti-subjugates Metal

Against this natural control system, if subjugation takes

place in the opposite direction, it is known as antisubjugation.

Water

Earth subjugates Water

Water

Metal anti-subjugates Fire

Water subjugates Fire

Fire anti-subjugates Water

Metal

Fire subjugates Metal

Wood

Metal subjugates Wood

Water anti-subjugates Earth

Earth anti-subjugates Wood.

This relationship is further explained as :

One which creates is the Mother.

If this controlling system fails, there would be

stagnation and disruption of energy flow, resulting in
illness.

One which is created is the Daughter.

One which controls
Grandmother.

One which is controlled is the Granddaughter.

Knowing these relations is necessary for applying
Acutouch method for curative purpose.

Pulse reading is an unique technique for diagnosis and

treatment about which let us know in detail.

IV.

Diagnostic Methods

In Acutouch, diagnosis means ascertaining the point in

which treatment has to be given. The diagnostic
methods are
1. Listening and observing
2. Knowing the condition of Meridian and their
energy flow
3. Knowing the Disease condition
4. Selecting the point for treatment through Pulse
reading
By listening to the patient, we may be able to judge the
organs and meridians affected due to illness.
As all the meridians are interrelated, by knowing the
condition of a particular meridian due to illness, we can
judge the condition of other meridians through Creative
and Subjugative relationship.
We need to know the condition of the disease and also
the condition of the patient, his age and his energy
level. By that we can decide whether this case in hand
can be cured through Acutouch, and how long the
treatment would be required etc., so that we can provide
suitable advice and treatment.

Location of Pulses
Pulses are read in both the hands. There are three
pulses in left hand wrist and another set of three in
right hand wrist.
In left hand at the depression just above (as you are
looking at the patients hand) the root of the thumb
bone is the location of Fire (Heat) pulse
One finger length above the Fire pulse and just below
the projecting wrist bone is the place for Liver pulse.
One finger width above the Liver pulse is the location of
Water Pulse.
Similarly in the right hand also, the depression at the
root bone of thumb is the place for Dryness pulse. One
finger width above the Dryness pulse is the place of
Spleen pulse. One finger width above the Spleen pulse
is the location of Fire (Hotness) pulse.
The superfluous pulses show the condition of Yang
organs and deep pulses belong to the Yin Organs.
Ability to read the pulses accurately is a must for
applying Acutouch for curative purposes.
Pathological reports are not required for diagnosis of
disease. However, comparing the prior and later reports
will reveal the progress of the case in hand and be an
evidence of cure.

V. Treatment through Pulse reading

Through pulse reading we can know the following four
conditions.

subjugating element of Water is Earth. Therefore

Acutouch treatment should be given to free Water from
Earth.
Treatment
Go to Spleen meridian and touch Water point.

1. Absence of a pulse indicates energy block in that

organ / meridian.
2. Weak pulse indicates that the energy flow is
weak.
3. Normal pulse indicates optimum flow of energy.
4. Pounding / hard pulse indicates stagnation of
energy in that organ.
Except the third one, all the other conditions indicate
that the health is not normal and Acutouch treatment is
required.
Absence or weakness of pulse in one place naturally
results in stagnation of energy at another place and by
correcting the absent pulse, the energy flow is
normalized
through
Creation
and
Subjugation
principles.
Now let us know as to how to go about when one or
more pulses are absent.

Absence of ONE pulse

Absence of TWO pulses

If Water (superfluous) pulse and Earth (superfluous)
pulse are absent, both the points are to be connected
through Acutouch.
Treatment
Go to Stomach meridian and touch Bladder (Water)
point
Or,
Go to Bladder meridian and touch Earth point.

Absence of THREE pulses

There are two ways to establish the normal flow of
energy.
If the absent pulses are in Creative Cycle The Mother
and Daughter elements are to be connected. E.g.,
Absent pulses Wood Fire and Earth
Treatment

E.g., if Water (deep) pulse is absent, it means that the

Kidney meridian is suffering. The controlling or

Wood + Fire

Go to Liver meridian and touch the Fire point.

If the absent pulses are in Subjugative Cycle Connect
the two elements omitting the daughter element. E.g.,
absent pulses: Wood, Fire and Metal.
Treatment
Go to Liver meridian and touch the Metal (Dryness)
point.

Absence of FOUR pulses

When four pulses are absent, connect to the element
where the pulse is present in creative cycle. E.g., Absent
pulses: Wood, Earth, Metal and Water.

VI.

Chakra Healing

Important glands in our body are situated in almost

centre of our body along the line of Chakras. Apart from
activating the twelve meridians, we shall also be
equipped to activate the glandular functions through
Chakra Healing. Six Ki and Five element principles are
also applied here.
There are two meridians running in the centre of body one on Yin side (front) and another on the Yang side.
There are seven points on each meridian.
Please refer to the drawing to know the location of those
meridians and elemental points.

Treatment
Chakra healing is performed for the following cases.
Here, the pulse present is only Fire. Therefore Earth
element has to be connected to Fire.

1. For normal growth of children

Go to Fire meridian and touch Earth element point.

2. To the aged people whose vital energy is low

The organs located in the sides of our body should also

be considered while providing treatment. E.g. Liver
right side of the body.

3. For diseases due to excess or deficient glandular

functions
4. For chronic diseases along with regular Acutouch
treatment.

Points to remember
This Acutouch method of treatment is introduced for
the self cure and maintaining good health of an
individual and those around him. This knowledge is
not enough for a professional practice.
This is not a replacement for a condition where
regular medical treatment is required. Medication
can be altered with the advice of a medical
practitioner, when health improves by Acutouch
treatment.
Acutouch treatment can take place along with any
other form of medical or Energy treatments.
Vital Energy, which is available in a constitution,
can only be distributed and stagnation be removed
through this treatment. Energy cannot be produced
by this method.
Be wise; you have some responsibility in
maintaining your good health. You need not become
a victim of exploitation in the name of medical
practice. Use your knowledge for your good health.
