Check for all the materials and tools are in place.
Necessary tools comprising of wooden straight edge, masons spirit level, square, foot rule,
plumb bob, grooving tools and pins etc shall be available to the masons to ensure that the
walls are taken up true to plumb line and levels.
DPC to be laid before Block work.

3.2 During Block work

Mark the level for reference on the column.
Lay one course of block over the bedding mortar. Check the dimensions of the room along
with the right angles. (Do not fill the joints till approval).
The joints should not be more than 12 mm thick (Screen sand if required).
Place plastering bull (level tippy) marks on the sides of block masonry.
Proceed further after getting the approval for one course.
Blocks of successive course should be laid in such a manner blocks at the end or near
columns, so that the vertical joints are staggered and the joints in alternate courses shall
come directly over the other.
All courses shall be laid truly horizontal and vertical joints truly vertical. Each block shall be
set with bedding joints and vertical joints filled thoroughly.
Thickness of the block courses shall be kept uniform. The wall shall be taken up truly plumb.

shall be raised more than 1.0m above the rest of work. Any dislodged block shall be removed
and reset in fresh mortar.
The construction of walls may be started either at the corners first, or started from one end
and proceeding in the other direction.

Handling or gripping the block shall be such as to position the block properly with minimum
adjustment. Mortar shall not be spread too far ahead of actual laying of the block that it tends
to stiffen and lose its plasticity.
RCC band of 100mm x 100mm of 1:2:4 concrete mix with 8mm dia (2nos.) bars shall be
provided for 100mm thick masonry wall at every 1.0m height. Also at the window sill level.
The block work shall be continued over it next day.
CC beds to be provided at lintel beam resting places.
The gap between the top most courses and the RCC beam soffit shall be filled with mortar and
metal should be pressed into it so that it becomes compact.
Teething to be provided to accommodate at the perpendicular wall junction wherever
applicable.

The vertical joints shall be broken and shall be in line for alternate courses.
The thickness of the both horizontal and vertical joints shall be not more than 12mm. All joints
shall be racked to a minimum depth of 12mm by racking tool while the mortar is still green, so
