What is GD&T?
GD&T is the standard set of symbols, rules and vocabulary to clearly define the drawings and help
the manufacturers to produce components as per the application.
Why GD&T is important?
There are 4 important reasons for you to make the first move in your region
According to Donald E Day, Chairman, Mechanical & Quality Technologies "It is estimated
that over 80% of the engineering products which fail because of lack of application of
GD&T.
Industries need 30000+ CAD professionals who need GD&T knowledge
Industries need 23000+ manufacturing & inspection engineers who need GD&T knowledge
All leading companies recruit people who are good in GD&T for their CAD team. Fact is
majority of the interview questions for beginners are based on GD&T.
Without GD&T your CAD course is not complete
When GD&T is properly applied and understood, product costs go down because:
Engineering can accurately define what is required. This can cut down time taken to
interpret the requirements by 25%.
Inspection setups are not subject to interpretation. The lack of trial-and-error may, in some
cases, save as much as 40% in gages that often get scraped.
Everyone can do their jobs right the first time, resulting in a reduction of a possible 25% less
Material Review Board action.
Accumulated benefits of GD&T often enable lower and more accurate price estimates for
fabrication.
What are the benefits of GD&T?
Produce parts that will function
Reduces scrap
Reduces manufacturing costs
Higher quality
Avoids & or eliminates re-work
Better product understanding
Fewer fit and functional problems
Fewer drawing change
