SecretaryofStateAndrewShapiroareteamingwithJeremyBashandMichaelAllentolaunchthe
group.BashspentyearsaschiefofstaffatboththeCIAandPentagonforformerDefenseSecretary

agencies,obviouslynewdepartments,DNI[directorofnationalintelligence]didntexist,DHS
[DepartmentofHomelandSecurity]didntexist.Defenseandintelligencespendinghasgoneup
significantly,andnowwereseeingprioritizationofthoseresources.Noonewhowasingovernmentin
the80soreveninthe1990s,Idontthink,canfundamentallyunderstandthewaythecurrentnational
securityagenciesoperate.
Thegroupisbeingsetuptofocusonseveralhotareasinnationalsecurity:internationalsales,potential
verticalintegrationinthedefenseindustry,andcyber.
ButthefirmisclearthatitwillhelponlywithitemsthatalignwithUSpolicy.
WewanttobesurethatwhatcompaniesaredoingisconsistentwithUSnationalsecuritypolicy,to
beginwith,Bashsaid.
