Once upon a time, a saint was passing by a village.
Few villagers that had
gathered were abusing him. He was listening to their abuses with complete tranquillity. Once their spur of abuse was over, he calmly asked them "Are u done with ur conversation with me? I shall be returning from same route, is there anything pending that you want to convey?" One of villager then came forward and asked him, all the villagers abused u, insulted u and u r so calm and addressing that abuse as a conversation? The saint with a calm smile on his face replied, "u know, yesterday when I was passing by a village, all villagers that had gathered offered me food, clothes, flowers etc. But I did not accept anything, as it was no use to me. I asked them to share it amongst themselves what they offered and I left the village." By this moment, the entire yelling crowd became silent. Quietly, he concluded addressing the crowd "I didnt accept what they (earlier villagers) offered me and asked them to share it amongst themselves. Similarly, I wont accept what you have to offer, u all also have to share it" The villagers were stunned... The Saint continued theyd given what they had and you've given what u r having". A wave of self-realization hit the crowd by then Lord Buddha already walked off on his journey. What we give is what we get and what we have that we give. What we give it to others shows what we have and that's what we will get in return. You give love, affection, care, an understanding, comfort and u will get it in return. It's our call what we give it to others trouble, abuses, worry, problem, stress, tension. It only means that we have only these things and we will get the same things in return from universe.
