1. Introduction
Konica Minolta is proud to introduce the bizhub C352/C300, a compact digital colour multifunctional peripheral that
can print, copy, scan, e-mail, fax (optional) and store data, all in one place. It can also output both colour and B/W
pages (A4 Crosswise) at a quick 35 ppm (C352) or 30 ppm (C300). Equipped with an abundance of cutting-edge
network functions, the C352/C300 is an ideal replacement for B/W machines. Its perfect as a central machine for
small and medium-size offices, as well as a dispersed machine in larger offices.
The C352/C300 features a body as compact as many B/W machines. The small, multi-array laser diode print head
was developed completely in-house. It represents the essence of Konica Minolta optical printer technologies, and
enables the C352/C300 to achieve both high output speed and high image quality. The C352/C300 saves space, even
when using the optional new, compact, built-in Finisher.
The C352/C300 promotes effective use of office document information. Both colour and B/W documents can be
scanned and converted into electronic data, which can then be shared, distributed or stored in Boxes. This ability to
share information assets allows the C352/C300 to become an offices centre of knowledge sharing. In addition, the
C352/C300 features top-class data security functions, thanks to a host of advanced Konica Minolta technologies, for
protecting a companys information assets from leaks and other dangers.
The optional new sheet-through Automatic Document Feeder, which features Konica Minoltas original dust
reduction system, enables high-speed scanning at 50 ppm (colour, 300 dpi, A4 Crosswise). For easy sharing and
distribution to servers or PCs, the C352/C300 can scan a paper document and convert the data into Ultra-Compact
PDF files or TIFF or JPEG files. By reducing the file size to approximately 1/7th that of previous models, the
industry-leading Ultra-Compact PDF makes it easy to distribute colour and other documents that were previously
difficult to send and receive due to large file size.
With swift 35 ppm (C352) or 30 ppm (C300) output of A4 colour pages and Konica Minolta's unique Simitri toner
and image processing technologies, the C352/C300 produces professional-looking documents quickly. Particular
emphasis has been placed on providing the C352/C300 with the reproduction capabilities that are most needed for
business documents. A newly developed graphic processing ASIC achieves top-class reproduction of text and graphs,
enabling excellent fidelity to the original in the kinds of business documents that are used most frequently. The C352/
C300 also provides flexible features for creating and managing important documents, such as proposals and reports,
with superb quality. The optional built-in Finisher even features an optional saddle-stitching function that reduces the
steps needed in booklet production. This makes it easy to produce materials in-house at a fraction of what a printing
company would charge. The C352/C300's optional Fiery Image Controller is ideally suited for high-end office
imaging use as well as professional desktop publishing and graphic design.
Furthermore, the C352/C300 features a user authentication function together with the conventional department
management function. This lets managers authorise or restrict use of the C352/C300 on an individual basis. For
example, managers can restrict an employee from using a particular C352/C300 function or limit the number of
colour pages the employee can print. This enables efficient office management and also helps to reduce costs.
Konica Minolta employs Universal Design, making products that are easy for anyone to use, and giving them an
attractive design as well. An example of this approach is the use of a large, easy-to-read LCD display and buttons for
the all-important control panel, with a design that allows the user to adjust the control panels angle in three steps for
optimal viewing and use. In addition, the C352/C300 adds the same level of overall reliability as a B/W machine.
With the C352/C300, Konica Minolta has further expanded its lineup of high-quality colour machines that satisfy a
wide range of customer needs, and will change how they do business.
1 Market Trends
In 2009, worldwide MFP demand in the Segment 2 market is expected to total 970,000 units, with worldwide
demand in the Segment 3 market likely to reach 830,000. Demand for colour MFPs as replacements for B/W
machines has been growing rapidly. The market share of colour MFPs is anticipated to reach 60% in the Segment
2 market and 85% in the Segment 3 market in 2009.

4 Target User
Offices that mainly need B/W output. The C352/C300 is an ideal replacement for current Segment 2/3 B/W machines.
Small and medium-size offices needing a central machine.
Larger offices that could use multiple C352/C300 units as dispersed machines.
5 Positioning
Competitive Trends
As the market for colour copiers grows, all manufacturers are expanding their line of office colour machines. While
some of these new products draw attention to the increased speed of colour outputs and downsizing of the machine's
dimensions, many new models come dual-equipped with the functions, productivity, and reliability of conventional
B/W copiers, which enable offices to reduce the total cost of ownership.
These new colour models are targeted to stimulate B/W copier replacement, mainly in general offices. In most
cases, you will find that their output speeds of B/W and colour copies will differ.
Another recent trend is for manufacturers to enhance the security of their new models, as well as to further improve
network functions, for example, by providing a controller as standard equipment.
With its fast copy/print speed of 35 ppm (C352) or 30 ppm (C300), the new addition to the Konica Minolta lineup
will bring a high level of productivity to any office.

Scanned data goes directly to a shared folder in a PC rather than to a server. This provides fast transfer for networks that do not
have a dedicated server. Plus, you can browse through shared folders on the network from the C352/C300s control panel. The
name of the destination computer, login password, and other information can be entered from the control panel. To use the Scan

TWAIN Scan
By using your favourite software which supports TWAIN, you can send documents directly to your PC.

4) Ultra-Compact PDF
This is a dramatically improved version of compact PDF technology. It reduces the amount of data required by distinguishing
between the text portions and the photo or image portions of each scanned document, and then using the optimal compression
ratio for each. It produces smaller file sizes, while actually raising the quality of conventional compact PDF images to a level
that approaches normal PDF. The C352/C300 is equipped with a built-in PDF function. New software adds to the text/image
separation and text/image compensation processing that is done using hardware (ASIC) in the C450. It works effectively with
mixed text and graphic, text only, and graphic only. The resulting files are 1/7th the size of those produced by the C350, and
resolution is fixed at 300 dpi.

Document names
Each document data to be saved can be named.
The name can consist of up to 30 single-byte characters.
The name can be changed later after the data is saved.
Any desired name can be assigned when saving data. If a name is not entered when data is saved, a preset name will be given to the saved data.
A preset name is created by combining the following contents. The explanation is based on the sample name "CKMBT_C35204102315230."
Name segment
Explanation
KMBT_C352
Indicates the name of the device (equipment) that read the data. The default setting is "KMBT_C352 (KMBT_C300)."
(KMBT_C300)
This portion can be changed by entering a new name in the "Machine Name" field of "Administrator/Machine Setting" in the
"Administrator Setting" screen. Up to ten characters can be entered.
_0001
Indicates the page number when the data of multiple pages is read. Although this number does not appear on the
"Document Name" screen, it will be automatically attached to the file name when the data is distributed over a network.
If the server places conditions on file names for FTP transmission, this number should be taken into consideration
when assigning a file name.
.JPG
This is the extension of the specified data format. Although the extension does not appear on the "Document Name" screen,
it is automatically attached to the file name when the data is distributed over a network.

5) Annotation Function
Users can create annotations to be added to scanned documents for management purposes. When a document or image is
scanned and the data is saved as a PDF file in an Annotation User Box, the annotation will be added automatically to the header
or footer each time the file is retrieved. This is especially convenient when managing data by client or production date, and it
helps deter unauthorised printing by making it easier to identify the creator of the documents.
When scanning a document, display the Application screen, select an Annotation User Box as the destination and
save the data as a PDF file. The title you create for the User Box, along with a counter number and the scanning date/
time, is embedded as a text layer in the header or footer.
Viewing a saved file
To view a file in an Annotation User Box, send the file to a client PC through the network or use a PC to retrieve the
file using the Box Operator. Use AdobeReader to open the file. The annotation is displayed along with the scanned
document. You can print the document or distribute it through the network.
The title can contain up to 40 characters (single-byte alphanumeric). This can be changed later, but not when creating
settings for network distribution. (Displayed as "Primary Field" on control panel.)
Counter number (number/character string + counter value)
Up to 20 characters (single-byte alphanumeric) can be set as a number/character string (this can be changed later). The
counter value can be set to increase each time a document is scanned or for each job. (This can be changed later if the User
Box is empty; you cannot change it if there's a document in the Box). Choose from two counter value formats: non-fixed
digit number (example: 12345), or fixed 8-digit number (example: 00012345). The default counter value for each box is
"0". (Number/character string displayed as "Secondary Field" on control panel.)
Scanning date and time
You can select from the following (this can be changed later, and the format can be temporarily changed when the file is retrieved).
Date : '06/1/23 (default)

2) PC-Fax Function
You can use any of several applications on your PC to create a
document, then fax it directly from your PC (assuming your PC
is connected to the network). Because theres no need to print the
document before faxing it, theres less paper waste and lower
costs. This paperless process also makes it easier to manage the
data you send and ensures that the sent documents are clear and
easy to read, free of smudges, faded sections and other
degradation. Using the PC-Fax RX function, you can store the
received fax in a Box without printing it out. Or, you can print
out the document at the same time as saving it in a Box.

* The width of erasure can be set in steps of 0.1mm in the range of 0.1mm-5.0mm. Initial setting of erasure width: 5.0mm.
Background Adjustment
Background Adjustment is a function that adjusts the density
of the background colour of the original. When an original
with coloured background is read, the base of the original tends
to turn black. In such a case, a message can be sent after
adjusting the density of the background colour of the original.
Sharpness
Sharpness is a function to adjust the intensity at
the edge section. In the case of document with
blurred characters, setting the sharpness to [+]
allows the characters to be adjusted clearly. And
setting it to [-] allows them to be adjusted so
that they have a smooth impression.
Scan Size
The Scan Size Select function enables you to designate the
paper size for the document transmitted to be equal to the
paper size loaded at the receiving end. This means that most
of your original image will be printed without any reduction.
Normally, when the paper size loaded at the destination is too
small to accommodate the image being transmitted, the original
image will be reduced to fit the paper size. This feature gives
you the option to print a portion of the image with no reduction.

Confidential Transmission/Reception
Confidential communication is enabled in the Utility Mode. It is a function that allows you to use restricted access Boxes
(similar to e-mail accounts) to exchange private information with specific people. Not only can you send a document to a
restricted access Box of a destination (Confidential transmission) but you can receive a document in a Confidential User Box of
your station (Confidential reception).
* This function can be used only when the destination (fax) with which you communicate incorporates the F-code feature.
* Confidential transmission requires that the destination receiving the transmission has a restricted access Box and password
defined for that station's fax machine. The password may not be needed, depending on the fax machine.
* If you intend to perform Confidential reception, define a Confidential User Box and password for your station and give this
information to the transmitting station.

Memory Reception
In the Utility Mode, you can set the C352/C300 to receive documents, store them in memory, and print them out as needed. This
mode is called Memory Reception.
Password Transmission
Password Transmission requires that transmission be performed with a password attached. If the receiving facsimile with the
C352/C300 is set to Closed Network RX, it is necessary for the sender to send the same password as the Closed Network RX
password.
* This function can be used only when the destination (fax) with which you communicate incorporates the F-code feature.
F-Code
It defines the use of the sub-address of T.30* standardised by ITU-T. You can use various functions of the F-code in the
fax communication among facsimiles supporting the F-code function even if their manufacturers are different. In this
machine, the F-code is used in the bulletin board, relay request, confidential communication and password transmission.
* This is one of the communication standards.

40
Manual Transmission
This operation is performed when sending documents and confirming the status of the receiving machine.
Restored Transmission
When Memory Transmission is selected, documents sent to a remote unit that is busy or otherwise unavailable will be stored in
memory for a fixed period of time, and the Re-Tx icon will be indicated on the JOB LIST screen. Documents stored in memory
can be selected and sent again to the same remote station or to a different remote station.
* Restored Transmission is only possible when Memory Transmission is set.
Polling Transmission/Reception
Polling Transmission enables the C352/C300 to scan a document and store it in the hard disk drive until a destination sends a
polling command, which causes transmission of the stored document. The document which directed Polling Transmission is
stored in the Polling TX User Box of the System User Box, and transmission is started by a polling command from the
reception side. Polling Transmission has Polling TX which accumulates documents to the Polling TX User Box, and Bulletin
Polling TX which accumulates documents to the Bulletin Board User Box. The recipient bears the cost of the transmission.

13) Minimal Loss Time When Outputting Colour and B/W Mixed Originals
Colour and B/W mixed originals, which are the main type of document in general offices, can be output at high speeds.
ACS (Auto Colour Selection) Control
Loss time results when switching from 4-colour control to
mono-colour (black only) control. On the other hand, when
outputting mono-colour originals using 4-colour control, the
unused 3 colour units are activated as well, wasting energy.
The enhanced ACS control was developed to optimise
switching-related loss time and power consumption.

8 Image Quality
1) Four High-Speed Vertical Engines
The C352/C300's four drum units (one each for the Y, M, C
and K colours) and twin-beam laser units are positioned
horizontally. This allows the Y, M, C and K colours to be
processed simultaneously, improving operation speed.
The vertical layout of the laser units helps save space. A Konica
Minolta original engine layout that positions the laser units at
the bottom and the drum units at the top contributes to faster
first copy times.
In addition, the C352/C300's tandem system performs the
transfer process in one operation, as opposed to the four steps
(one each for C, M, Y and K) required in the previous system.
The faster image forming process achieves outstanding output
speed35 pages* per minute in both colour and black and
white (C350).

RG Layer Separation
Here, layers refer to the images separated from the input image, according to the red and green colour information. By judging the
colour of each dot, every CMYK dot on a colour original can be identified accurately, resulting in more precise colour determination.
A smoothing process is usually applied to halftone dot areas to prevent moirs. But because smoothing tends to blur characters on
halftone dot backgrounds, it is important that character zones are separated from halftone dot areas with high accuracy. The reproducibility
of text on halftone dot backgrounds is improved by increasing character detection accuracy and applying an emphasis processing to
sharpen the characters.
The C352/C300 separates the input image into two layersR and Gand performs isolated-point judgment for each. Even if
isolated points of two or more RGB colours overlap, the isolated-point supplementation rate in a halftone dot original is 100%.
Subscanning Colour Deviation Compensation
During scanning but prior to the character zone micro-separation, the RGB colour deviation generated in the sub-scanning
direction is suppressed. This optimises the colour/black separation based on colour/black-and-white majority-rule processing,
greatly improving colour character determination and thus improving reproducibility of black characters.

Enables users to save scanned jobs to any network location with your web browser.
WebScan also lists the information such as file name, date resolution, and file size.
Enables users to save scanned files in up to 10,000 possible mailboxes on a hard disk drive.
It's an ideal way for users to easily retrieve jobs.
TWAIN Plug-in

Auto Trapping
Since the Fiery is installed together with the Fiery Graphic Arts Package, it
automatically applies trapping even if an office application that is not equipped
with DTP functions is used to produce output. This is especially handy for ondemand or short-run jobs.
Hot Folders
Hot Folders automatically handle complex output processing.
Simply drag and drop the target file into a specified folder. Job
Tickets, which describe output settings such as trapping, separation
and imposition, eliminate the need for cumbersome option settings
and imposition processing for each output, thus streamlining the
printing workflow. Previously accessible by Windows only, it is
now also available for Macintosh computers.

the master data and variable data separately.
The master data is RIPped only once and can be stored and reused,
thus saving printing time.
When frequently used data is saved as master page data, it is
amazingly quick to create and output a large volume of this data.
8) Security
LDAP User Authentication
The LDAP user authentication function, which comes standard
with the Fiery, lets you authenticate not only local users but also
LDAP users (LDAP groups). In addition to the conventional setup
functions, it also allows the user to select a new authentication
system for the LDAP server.

10 Universal Design
1) Design Concept
In business, men and women of all sizes and ages work together. With this in mind, Konica Minolta designed the C352/C300 adopting
numerous universal design elements to ensure maximum ease of use for the widest range of users as well as a visually attractive body.

3) Control Panel
Since the control panel is a critical factor in operating the C352/C300, strict attention was paid to ensure its ease of use. Youll
note on-screen prompts and buttons are both large and well placed.
Help key
Press to display the Main Help Menu screen, where descriptions of the various functions and details of operations can be
displayed.
Accessibility key
1. To set the Key Repeat Start/Interval Time Function.
When changing a numerical value by pressing the + or - button on the
touch panel, you can set the length of time for the value to change when the
button is pressed for the first time, and the length of time for the value to
move to the next number. The default setting is 0.8 second for Time To Start
and 0.3 second for Interval.
2. To set the Enlarge Display Timer Setting function.
When the automatic panel reset operation is performed, a message requesting
confirmation to cancel Enlarge Display Mode can be displayed. In addition, it
is possible to specify the length of time that the message requesting confirmation to cancel Enlarge Display Mode is displayed.
69
Utility key
The numerical keypad is used to select functions.
Sub-power switch
The sub-power switch is located on the control panel, enabling
you to turn the power on/off right from the panel.
The LCD panel display can be enlarged, as shown in the photo,
for easy viewing.
The control panels buttons have large, easy-to-see descriptions
and a simple, logical layout.
By using dark colours, the visibility of the control panel has also
been improved.
The interactive LCD touch panel is big, and its step-by-step simplicity makes it easy to operate.

Ecologically Minded
In keeping with our environmentally-friendly mindset, the C352/C300
uses easily recyclable materials in some of its dark-coloured external
parts. And, as we look to the future, we hope to conserve even more
resources by further increasing the amount of recycled materials we
utilise.
To achieve better
leverage, the C352/
C300s paper drawer
handles allow users
to grip from either
above or below.

11 Reliability
1) The Same High Reliability as Black-and-White Units (100% Improvement over CF3102)
Konica Minolta has used feedback from users to incorporate
significant improvements into the C352/C300. The full-colour
C352/C300 is as reliable as black-and-white machines.

12 Environmental Considerations
1) Acquisition of Certifications for Environmental Standards
Konica Minolta copiers and MFPs are designed with the environment in mind. Because of this mindset, we have acquired a
number of certificates for meeting global environmental standards.

13 Servicing Ease
1) CSRC (CS Remote Care)
Fax Modem Version
CSRC connects the MFP to the Service Centre and checks the machine status via Fax modem.
The C352/300 e-mails the total counter data (B/W and colour)
to the Service Centre. This function is set in the Administrator
Setting (count time duration and e-mail address) by the service
engineer after obtaining consent from the user. This function
helps to reduce service costs.
CF3102
4) Reduced Weight
We reduced the thickness of the frame plates from 1.6mm to between 1.0mm and 1.2mm. This helped us slash the weight of the
main unit from previous models to around 100kg. The C352/C300 is about 12% lighter than the C350.
