JOY OF READING
Each child should be guided to choose the right book, to enjoy the content and above all learn to
interpret. Parents, this summer when your child is with you at home, we are suggesting an activity which
you can carry out. Launch a Reading Campaign to inculcate the reading habit in your child at home.
Help the child to get the right book based on his interests, hobbies, his favourite sport etc.The books
could be on mythological stories, history and so on.
Motivate your child to reflect on what was read after the reading is over. Discuss real life
situations with the trend of the stories they have read. Carve time out of your busy day and dedicate it to
reading with your child.

It would be wonderful to launch a reading club with you and your children as active members.
When you have invested in good reading material, the returns will be immense. Reading helps in
thinking, understanding thus creating a total experiential and a learning environment. Have a small
party after the reading of a book and gift them a cake, a choco bar, an ice cream cone or a small token of
gift to keep them going.
Last but not the least, dear parent, you would have spent quality time with your child and avoided
the television. Visit to public libraries will help your child to make the best choice with your help.
Recommended books available at leading book stores: Books like Amar Chitra katha,
Panchatantra tales, Fables, short stories, word games and the list goes on.
