Statement of Purpose
Applicant: Muhammad Amir Shafiq
I hereby declare that I wrote the following statement of purpose independently without using
any sources or auxiliary means other than the ones indicated and that everything stated is true
to the best of my knowledge.
I have completed my bachelor in electrical engineering with outstanding grades and I was among
the top performers of my batch. During my undergraduate degree I studied a lot of courses
related to electronics, electrical circuits and power but the courses which I enjoyed the most
during my study was the courses related to computer e.g. Programming, networking and
microprocessor based embedded system. It was extremely easy for me to understand
communication systems and apart from degree courses I have attended GSM-BSS, CDMA and
SDH professional certifications and Trainings. I have a strong knowledge of these subjects and I
intend to study them in depth with practical applications.
Besides my educational activities I have also participated in numerous extra and co-curricular
activities. During undergraduate studies I got selected as a class representative (CR) for my
section. I was member of Event Organizers of Society of Electronics & Telecommunication (SET)
at my institute through which I learned many leadership and team work qualities. Furthermore
I represented my institution in various electrical competitions, I stood winner and first runnerup in Speed Wiring and Circuit Designing & Implementation competitions respectively, held at
Engineering Olympiad 2012. Along with these actions I served the humanity in different ways
which includes awareness seminars and walks for Thalassemia, conduction of blood donation
camps at different institutions and I also worked voluntarily with V.I.S (volunteer in service)
Program in Govt. Lady Aitchison Hospital Lahore.

Why I have planned to do MS ? In order to quench my thirst for research and further education,
I have decided to apply to your prestigious program. I believe that through this program, I will
be able to further enhance my skills and dig deep into the broader spectrum of the courses that
I studied throughout my undergraduate courses. Since undergraduate courses cover topics in a
broader manner rather than a deep analysis, this MS program will provide me with sufficient
tools to find the answers to the questions which I wasnt able to take care of during my
undergraduate career, due to lack of in depth knowledge of the issues.
I found for myself that I felt satisfied when I learn new things. I have a passion to acquire
knowledge of new technologies related to energy and computer. I have much potential for
persistent hard work but require some good institute to flourish and polish my skills. In order to
achieve my goals I want to head to a place where I can contribute through all my faculties and be

rewarded in return , where I can follow my intellectual pursuits to the best of my ability , and
where I can follow a Master degree. For this I seek a place as reputed and as elated. I will be
honored to be a part of this immensely intellectual community.
With my strong academic background, I am confident that I am well qualified and able to perform
well in this program. I believe that I can make significant contribution to this program. I am also
interested in learning German Language and I have been learning German language from the last
one year (my class participation certificates are attached with my application) and I am hoping
to pass C1 or Testdaf before the start of my studies and I am sure that it will be beneficial for me
in studies, for example I will be to attend German language seminar. Moreover in job hunt after
the completion of my degree. I also believe that my educational background along with my CGPA
and my language proficiencies gives me an edge over other candidates and the selection
committee will take me into consideration for this program and will give me the opportunity to
further enhance my skills.
