November 2012
nd
For the 2 time this year, UAS will host a SAT preparation course starting in December until April, 2013. Please see
nd
the 2 page of this letter for the course schedule. The goal behind this intense preparatory course is to get JUNIOR
students (grade 11) ready to write the SAT test dates in May or June 2013, and for the SOPHOMORE (grade 10)
students ready for the fall 2013 SAT test date.
What is the SAT and why take an SAT prep (preparatory) course?
SAT is a standardized admission test that is administered by the College Board. SAT tests are held six (6) times
during the academic year at accredited SAT testing centers throughout the UAE. Registration for SAT tests is
completed online by students well in advance of the test dates via the College Board SAT website:
http://sat.collegeboard.com/home
SAT scores are required for admission to most US colleges and universities, for many American universities in
the Middle East such as American University Sharjah, American University Beirut, American University Cairo and
some Canadian institutions for students who are pursuing the IB diploma course program. Having a high SAT score
can enhance a students college application. A strong SAT score may also mean a student is eligible for freshman
scholarships at university/college.

Punctuality
All classes will commence promptly. Punctuality is essential to derive the best from our courses.
Homework
Due completion of homework is essential to each students learning and improvement of skills. Students must do all assigned homework promptly.
The student should use the techniques learned in class when he/she is doing the homework. When in doubt, consult teachers. If a student has not
done his/her homework, he/she will be asked to leave the class (except under Parents prior information) and go to another room to finish it. At the
same time parents of students will also be informed. The homework will have to be completed before entering the class again.
You must attend the tests on the scheduled day, at the scheduled time. If you fail to do so, you will not be able to take the test again (except under
Parent's prior information).
