REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

WEEK 1
(27/09/2015- 1/10/2015)
27 September 2015 was my first day of my internship. It was a nervous and at
the same time an exciting day for me to step in my intern school. My intern school is
Sekolah Kebangsaan Bechah Kelubi which located in Kelantan. It was my second time
to see that school on that day because before this I already doing my PBS at that
school. It was a school with a medium size of area. It easier to find the school as it is
very near with my house. My partner for this time is Noor Aisah. She is my best friend
and studies at IPG Darul Aman, Kedah.
The first thing that my partner and I did was gone to the school office to register
ourselves. We met the PK Pentadbiran of SK Bechah Kelubi, Mr. Aziz as headmistress
was not there on that day. He was welcoming us happily and we were given a short
briefing by him before we went to the assembly. He told us about the infrastructures of
the school, teachers and others. Then, we met the teachers and pupils of SK Bechah
Kelubi at the assembly. The teachers there all were nice and friendly as they greeted
and welcomed us. This environment was given us a good impression about our being in
this school for two months. For this internship, I got to teach year 3 and the periods that
I got were four periods.
The routine for the next days were same on the morning. We wake up early to go to
the school for teaching practice. The timetable given to me started on Thursday, thus
the day before Wednesday, I entered the class for ice-breaking session with the pupils.
The first important thing that I did for this first week was setting the class rules. I set four
rules for my classroom which are respect, speak English, no noise and respond.
Thanked God that the pupils can understand the rules and they can accept those rules.
The rules setting is very important to a teacher so that the pupils know what can be
done and what cannot be done during the class.

The rules also important to control the pupils discipline. They can shape the
pupils behaviour and can help the teaching and learning process smoothly done.
However, a teacher must be strict in implementation of the rules so that the pupils do
not forget about the rules and can behave well in the classroom. For my classroom, I
asked my pupils to memorize them so that they can keep in mind how they should be in
my class.
Besides, I also consult my mentor, Madam Ayzmah for my lesson and asked her
what the topic that I should teach the class given to me. She was really nice and cooperative to me. I wish I can get more inputs from her as she already have experienced
in handling the class. Last but not least, everything was going on smoothly throughout
this first week and I hope so or the next week.
