1. General Information:
As per the TSS report 1323, it has been observed that the pitch
motor cable fails due to insulation puncture. Mostly the cable
insulation was getting punctured where the cable is clamped by SS
Boss pipe clamp inside the blade adapter. This leads to pitch
system associated components failure.
This instruction is to change the small size SS Boss pipe clamp by
Boss Pipe clamp 13.5-22.5mm (SAP 92986) of bigger diameter
and rubber gasket protection.
2. Scope of Change:
The instruction is applicable to all CS48 WECs before machine number 91-11024. This retrofitting
activity has to be carried out with the preventive maintenance.
3. Safety Instructions:

CAUTION!!!

Follow the 5 safety rules for working in Electrical Power supplies.

Isolate the incoming supply while doing this activity.
Apply the rotor lock before working on rotary parts.
Remove the Pitch Motor Cable connectors from relay box before starting the work
Follow Safety instructions for work on and at the WEC! Obey work permit

5. Identification of New Component:

6. Working Steps:
1. Stop the WEC as per standard procedure.
2. Apply manual rotor lock in such way that working blade comes at
12O clock position; then turn OFF the main switch S01 on NCC.
3. Remove the Pitch motor connectors J03 from relay box =011,
then turn ON the supply to activate hydraulic brake.

4. Enter in spinner area and replace the SS bossed clamp by new

type clamp with rubber gasket. Refer Pic-1 & 2.

WARNING

The four working holes on the adapter is only place for

working inside blade adapter.
Care should be taken to avoid the tools and materials fall
inside the blade.

5. Route the removed cable and avoid rubbing of motor cable on

compact limit switch shaft.
6. The bend cable on bossed clamp must be avoided and
straightened first before fixing on clamp as shown in Pic-3.
7. Carry out the SS-clamp replacement in all three blades.
8. Turn OFF the supply from NCC and reconnect all removed pitch
motor connector J03 at their respective relay boxes.

9. Turn ON the supply and check the single blade operation and
free pitch motor cable movement inside the adapter.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Exchange of 1 new clamp at near each angle encoder mounting plate is sufficient to solve the purpose.
If pitch motor cable observed pinch / over tight in all the 3 points of one blade; then replace all 3 clamps.

10. Finishing Works:

Pick up all tools and tackles and keep it in safe place.

Start the WEC to conduct test run and inform the WWCC about activity and mention in
service report and station logbook.

11. Disposal Action for Removed Material:

All removed old boss pipe clamps SAP=3004- clamp bossed pipe-14-18mm V4A M08 must be
submitted in the store and do the 262 movement of the removed clamp in SAP during report entry.
The removed clamps to be returned back to Central Store Daman for further disposal action.

12. Documentation Note:

Operation key H104 with description Pitch motor cable clamp replacement must be mentioned in
service report. The report should be entered under SAP system in OP03 activity type.
