The delegate of UK is of opinion that it is only by strict adherence to international human rights standards that counter-terrorism strategies can ultimately succeed. Just as
much as we condemn terrorism, particularly at a time when the international community reaffirms its unreserved commitment to combat it, it cannot led the violation of
human rights and the privileges of the weaker sections be ignored.
The British government has designated 58 organizations as terrorist and banned them.Two of these were also banned under the Terrorism Act of 2006 for "glorifying
terrorism."

It is unquestionable that terrorism threatens the core values of the United Nations and represents an assault on the rule of law, human rights, and
international peace and security. It is important to recognize that the right to security of person was a fundamental right enshrined in Article of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights. If we want to defend peoples rights, the first thing that needs to be done is to protect their right to live and
not to die. The new comprehensive, integrated and universal Sustainable Development Goals provids an important framework for a United Nations
effort in promoting the nexus between security and development. The role of technical assistance and capacity building in preventing and countering
terrorism is crucial. Much More needed to be done to protect, as the traditional security-oriented approaches were insufficient to address the threat
of terrorism effectively, particularly in the medium- and long-term.
UK believes in the expansion of entrepreneurship, education, and youth programs as these investments are the best antidote to violence which in turn will result in the
decrease of human rights violation.
The aim of the new counter-terrorism strategy is to reduce the risk to the UK and our interests overseas from terrorism, so that people can go about their lives freely and
with confidence.

Most immediate priority is to stop terrorist attacks. The police, security and intelligence agencies work tirelessly to keep Britain safe. We will develop our counterterrorism powers to ensure they remain effective.
United Kingdom believes that terrorism can, and must, be fought within the rule of law and the human rights framework. Repression and injustice, and the criminalization
of non-violent speech and protest, make us less safe; not more. These measures act as a recruiting sergeant to the extremist fringe, and marginalize those whose support is
vital effectively to fight the terrorist threat.
They also undermine the values that separate us from the terrorist - the very values we should be fighting to protect.
