HAJJ BRIEFING:
Last week, a Hajj Briefing was arranged by the Department of
Immigration and Border Protection attended by various community
leaders. There is an attachment from the briefing with this
newsletter. John Murphy responded to additional queries from the
members.
The concern regarding presence of dogs at airport was in the
discussion. Please note that the dogs are trained and they never lick
any passenger so do not feel alarmed or scared.
A question was raised that if there is a family of say 4 and they jointly held an amount of 10,000 $, one
still needs to declare the sum to the authorities.
Similarly if there is an issue of family support or child custody please try to keep the relevant
documents with you.
FACILITIES AT PERTH AIRPORT
There has been a concern raised by the Muslim community members about the lack of Halal meal as
well as provision of ablution facilities. We have raised this issue earlier in 2013 and were assured that
it will be taken care of.
In response to our letter to the Perth Airport dated 27th July
followed by one in the letters to the editor today we have
received the response which is reproduced on the following
page. Please note that airport website is providing
information regarding halal food and Ms. Lander has
reassured that the halal certification will be displayed on the
menu to address the community needs. Am not sure how the
ablution facilities could be redesigned.(See Fig on left).
