Brethren in Christ:

You have borne us up in numerous trials, supported us with the monitoryblessings God has given you, interceded for us in prayer; for all this
we are thankful.

We - Bros. Wilhoit and Gage - returned from St. Vincent in the clouds,
both literally and spiritually. An effectual door had been opened to
us. VJe went into an evangelistic meeting at the Grazettes church and
maintained that same spiritual altitude. Last Saturday we had to bail
out. We face great problems among other mission personnel which have
been a hindrance to the work for several years.

We have done every

thing within our power to keep harmony and have cried to God continually
for help. God has helped, but the situation here is such that we must
leave the field immediately or create disharmony among the native
churches. We do not think it is wise to immediately enter another
island from Barbados, as the problems here would surely follow. V/e had

planned to draw trained leadership from Barbados in eyangelizing

neighboring islands, but this source would be hindered by strife, and,
therefore, make the plans we have made so recently for t]iat purpose
impossible to fulfill.

The personnel trouble in Barbados began May 2, 1958. A man v/ho was
unaccepted in the ministry in the States came here unannounced. He
walked in one day and here he was. He forced himself upon the churches
and into the missionary program. When he arrived, there were three

missionary families here. Two families returned home because they

were not able to work successfully with him. The third family (the
Bill Gages) were able to stick it out until furlough time. Immediately
after their return from furlough, the problem preacher took a furlough.

In the meantime, Tracy Wilhoit and his wife came to Barbados to work.
Shortly after their arrival, the problem preacher returned. He has
put out a lot of effort in preaching, teaching, and building programs,
but at the same time has continually been a sore spot in private and

public relations among other missionaries. The point has been reached
where the spiritual welfare of the native churches, as well..as our,
own, is being affected. We have tried to reach a favorable working
agreement many, many times, but all we get in return is antagonism
and heartache.

To make any further statements would be like pulling a "dead cat*s

tail." So, let it lay; God v/ill judge us all. We are prepared, and
desire, to account for our own stewardship. We return undefeated, for
no man can be defeated in Christ Jesus, but rather, heartsick.

A great amount of money and labor has been expended on the work here.
Vie have confidence that that which has been established will continue

selected and material made ready so make plans nov/ for your child

This will be our theme for July and August when v/e will try to have

increase in attendance over last year's July and August atten

dance, Our average last year was 2l8.

To accomplish this we have joined in the Build On The Bible contest
sponsored by the Lookout and we will be in competition with churches,
nationv/ide, who have averaged 151 - 225 in Bible School. Also, each
class has had a 25% increase added to last year's average attendance

for them so that we might meet these goals, beginning July 1.
