TITLE:
LAYING OUT A HORIZONTAL CURVE

SUBMITTED TO:
ENGR. ROBERT ROMERO

SUBMITTED BY:
JANTZEEN O. DACUP

OBJECTIVE:
To be able to lay out a horizontal curve that has an obstruction
along the curve through curve-deflection angle.
PROCEDURE:
The survey team proceeds to the site. Sets the instrument
(Theodolite) to a point to establish the point of intersection or the Station PI.

PC

From Station PI, the tapeman measures 12 m to indicate the Station

The tape men measures again 12 m from Station PI and marks the
point as Station PT

Set the instrument or Theodolite on Station PI and set the Vernier to

zero. The instrument man sights the point PC and reverses the telescope.
He or she then measures the deflection angle by turning the Theodolite
towards point PT.

The different elements of the curve and the stationing of the PC and
PT were determined by calculations.

The instrument or the Theodolite will be transferred to Station PC and

the instrument man will sight station PI and sets the Vernier into zero

The tape man will measure that corresponds the calculated values for
the cord distances for the station 1 and 2.
Finding out that there is an obstruction along the curve between
2 to PT, the instrument man transfer the Theodolite to station 2.
After setting up the instrument, the instrument man sites station
PC and deflects an angle.
The tape man measures the corresponding lengths along the
line of site of the station 3, 4, and PT.
After establishing the station PT, the instrument man goes back
to the station PC to check for the deflection angles.
