MAYNARD OPERATION SEQUENCE TECHNIQUE (MOST)
Submitted To
Dr. ARUN MAITY
OBJECTIVE
To study and analyze the all processes going on in FABRICATION LINE (CAB
AND COWL)
To study the WIS (Work Instruction Sheet) and sequence of activities as suggested
by MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) and observe how it is being
implemented.
To observe any loopholes in process and suggest improvement in order to eliminate
the loopholes and in doing so increase the productivity of the line.
PROBLEM DEFINITION
There is a need of standardization in order to regulate the activities and the processes
scheduled to be done. In order to achieve this TATA MOTORS Jamshedpur have
Motion elements, and each is assigned a numerical time value in units known as time
Measurement units.
In order to implement the MOST system each station is provided with a WIS (Work
Instruction Sheet) in which given work and time requisite is directed to the workers.
The problem arises as actual work done may vary with the WIS (Work Instruction
Sheet). Thus there is a scope of improvement in every step of every process.
Thus my problem (task) is to observe each process carefully and suggest any scope of
improvement if possible.
METHODOLOGY
Understand and analyze the WIS (Work Instruction Sheet) of all the stations and
realize the various processes occurring on all stations
Interpret the instructions given in the MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence
Technique) which includes the Operation number, Operation Description,
WorkCentre, Frequency (number of times the operation needs to be done) and the
DATA TO BE COLLECTED
Time taken to complete each activity in actuality and according to WIS (Work
Instruction Sheet).
Processes to be done at all stations in actuality and according to WIS (Work
Instruction Sheet) and MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique).
The various activities to be done during a process at all stations in actuality
and according to MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique).
Type and the number of defects in the Trim Line.
EXPECTED RESULTS
The MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) technique shows how the
given work should be done. However, in actuality the way work is done may be
different.
To highlight the inconsistencies and loopholes in the operation and suggest the
rightful method in order to improve the productivity of the Line.
The suggestions may include better utilization of workforce, better approach to do a
process or better layout to decrease the cycle time.
