What is happening to the environment?

Our environment is in need of a lot of work. The ozone layer is quickly rotting away; the
waters are polluted; and the rain forest is rapidly shrinking in size due to the ignorance of
land developers. So why isn't anything being done? Everyone thinks if they ignore the
problem, it will go away. Granted there are many people who do more than their share
when it comes to taking care of our planet, but it still isn't enough. We all need to get
together and start recycling our plastics and papers, sorting our trash and reduce cutting
down our trees.

Is man greatest threat to the Environment?

The variety of life on Earth, its biological diversity, is commonly referred to as biodiversity. The
number of species of plants, animals, and microorganisms, the enormous diversity of genes in these
species, the different ecosystems on the planet, such as deserts, rainforests and coral reefs are all part
of a biologically diverse Earth. Appropriate conservation and sustainable development strategies
attempt to recognize this as being integral to any approach. In some way or form, almost all cultures
have recognized the importance of nature and its biological diversity for their societies and have
therefore understood the need to maintain it. Yet, power, greed and politics have affected the
precarious balance.
