Description: Democracy, equity, and diversity are themes that are present in my
daily interactions with students and staf. Its not always something that I teach
consciously, but is instead part of who I am, so it naturally seeps out. On my most
recent evaluation, I was rated Highly Efective in the following related areas:
Demonstrates knowledge of students, Creates an environment of respect and rapport
regardless of differences, and Establishes a culture for learning.
Reflection: Understanding and safeguarding democracy, equity, and diversity are
imperative in the school classroom. Treating students equally provides a foundation
on which students can feel accepted and loved. As a result, they learn to treat others
this way, creating a positive, productive school environment where everyone can
learn without hindrance.
