Element 6.2 Influencing Local, District, State, and National Decisions Affecting Student Learning Activity: 6H. RTI Meeting Time: 2 hours Artifact: Meeting Summary, Issues, Concerns and Recommendations Description: On March 2, 2015, I met with the RTI team at Route 40 Elementary School. They discussed students and their skills and deficits, how theyre growing, and what their needs are. They also spent time writing new goals for students who had met their previous targets. Reflection: Teachers spend a great deal of time analyzing data, strategizing, and re-teaching to help students meet their goals. Standards are growing increasingly more difficult, and students who may not have struggled with the content expectations that existed ten years ago, are struggling today. In a lot of ways, pre-k is the new kindergarten, kindergarteners are expected to do what first graders used to do, and on up the ladder. Providing additional support to students proves that teachers are doing everything they can to implement the new standards. As we move forward, the data will show whether or not its working, which in turn can be used to influence local, district, state, and national decisions affecting student learning in the school environment.
