1.0 SCOPE
This document covers the Welding Repair Procedure for RT repairs in piping,
casing and duct installations in AL-AWEER GAS TURBINE POWER STATION H
PHASE III. This shall be used together with related drawings.

3.0 RT FILM INTERPRETATION & DEFECT MAPPING


3.1

The RT films will be interpreted by a recognized third party inspection


agency in the presence of the QC engineer and the client.

3.2

A report will be prepared by the third party inspection agency enlisting


the type and orientation of the defects on the job surface.

3.3

The defects will be identified and mapped in a tracing sheet for


transferring it in the job surface.

4.0 SURFACE PREPARATION


4.1

The mapped defects will be grinded till the termination of the defect.

4.2

DPT will be carried out in the grinded portion for ensuring the complete
removal of the defect.

4.3

If the defect leads to root opening, weld edge preparation will be


carried out in the opened out portion to smoothen out the edges for
proper fusion and penetration.

5.0 WELDING

5.1

Repair welding will be carried out by the qualified welders as per the
approved WPS/PQR.

5.2

After completion of the welding, final DPT will be carried out for any
surface exposed defects, and presence if any will be grinded till its
termination. Surface preparation will be carried out again in the ground
spot as briefed above.

5.3

The performance of the welder will be recorded in the Welder


Performance Register which will be updated for current RT repairs.

6.0 REPAIR RT
Final RT of the repair welding will be carried out. RT film interpretation and
subsequent repairs if any shall be carried out by the same procedure briefed in
this document.
