This document summarizes a survey and recommendations for professional development conducted by the author during their practicum. The author surveyed teachers to get their input on effective professional development and included a summary of the survey results and recommendations in an artifact. While the author enjoyed getting teacher feedback, they recognize that many factors influence what professional development can be implemented due to limitations of time, money, and other requirements. The recommendations suggest moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach to professional development.

Professional Development Survey Time: 4 hours Artifact: Survey Results & Recommendations Description: This spring, I surveyed a broad spectrum of teachers to elicit recommendations for more effective and relevant professional development. I included in the artifact a summary of the survey results and recommendations for effective professional development and its use in teacher evaluation. Reflection: I enjoyed hearing the teachers thoughts on professional development. I think that if administrators in charge of professional development listened more to their teachers, they could help make it more effective. Because I didnt actually have to plan any professional development, Im sure that many factors influence what professional development can occur. From other aspects of my practicum, I am aware that time, money, and people are all necessary means and their impact in professional development is no less profound. Local, state, and federal requirements and decisions likely also control aspects of this topic. Overall, I think that less emphasis on the one-size-fits-all mentality would invoke the greatest change in professional development.
