Throughoutthecourse,studentswillroutinelyengageinformativeassessmentstopreparethemfortheIB
assessments.Thesewilloccurthroughbothformalandinformalwritingassignments,practiceexam
commentaries,practiceoralcommentaries,andregularSocraticSeminars.

Grading Policies

Yourgradewillnotbecalculatedtraditionally.Formoredetailsontherationaleforthispolicy,pleaseseethe
GradingFAQandGradingsectionoftheclasswebsitethereyouwillfindrubrics,ahelpfulvideo,etc.
YouwillearncompletiongradesforallassignmentsanAifyouturntheassignmentinontimeandanFifyou
donotturnitinatall.
Youwillreceivecopiousfeedbackbothwrittenandthroughconversationswithmewhichwillbefarmore
valuabletoyouasyouseektogrowasaperson,deepenyourknowledge,improveyourwork,andprepareforyour
IBexamsandcollegelife.IwillkeepnotesinthePowerSchoolgradebooksothatyoucanseehowyouaredoingat
anytime.However,muchoftheresponsibilityforkeepingupwithyourprogresswillrelyonyou.
WewilldevelopaclassrubricbasedontheIBlearnerprofile

brainstormtheevidenceyouwillusetoprovethesequalitiesattheendofeachquarter.

IwouldlovenothingmorethanforeachofyoutoearnanAinthiscoursenotbecauseyouarethebestandthebrightest
(thoughyouare)butbecauseyouworkedhard,pushedyourself,livedalifeofintellectualrevision,andgrewdeeply
throughthecourseoftheyear.

caughtupwithclasswork.Thisisyourresponsibilitynotmine.

LateWork:
LateworkshouldbeavoidedatallcostsasIwillprovideyouwithampletimeforeveryassignment.Wewilldiscussthe
