RELEVANT EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH CHILDREN

Instructional Assistant, John H. Wood Charter Schools
January 2016 - Present
As an instructional assistant, my duties were to assist in maintaining classroom order and providing
instruction and help to small groups of students in class. I maintained accurate records on our special
education students involving contact time. If the teacher I was partnered with was absent, I would run the
classroom by myself or with the help of a special education teacher. My subject focuses were secondary
math and science. I assisted in administering the STAAR test seven times including computer
administration of the STAAR-A.
Service Coordinator and Visitation Monitor, Family Service Association May 2014 July 2016
As a visitation monitor, I was responsible for documenting and intervening on visitations between parents
and children referred by either the courts or Child Protective Services. I also maintained detailed and
accurate client records and worked the front desk answering phone calls and documenting all
communication with clients. As a service coordinator, I maintained relationships with parents, educating
them about available resources and their childrens needs. I worked closely with troubled children who
were seeing absent parents for the first time.
Coach Advocate, Bexar County Family Justice Center
October 2012 September 2014
As a coach advocate, I worked with high-risk children in economically disadvantaged schools and on
military bases to present information and provide techniques to deal with the social pressures and difficult
life situations common to children of varying age groups. I presented to parents in the community,
educating and engaging them in recognizing the warning signs of children in situations of dating violence.
I assisted in the creation of curriculum for the program and organizing school groups. Finally, duties
included data entry and evaluation to assess the impact of the programs work.
Preschool Teacher, King of Kings ECDC
August 2006 - October 2008
As a preschool teacher at the Early Childhood Development Center, I worked with children in a day
care/preschool setting, attending to social, physical, and psychological needs. I helped parents understand
their childrens needs and responded to concerns they had. I maintained Minimum Standards as required
by the State of Texass child care licensing division. I implemented lesson plans in place of lead teachers
in their absence.
