A RESOLUTION WARNING MOTORIST NOT TO PLAY POKEMON GO WHILE
OPERATING ANY VEHICLE AND PEDESTRIANS NOT TO PLAY POKEMON GO WHILE CROSSING STREETS OR WALKING ALONG SIDEWALKS Whereas, Pokemon Go is a free-to-play, location based, reality mobile game which requires the player to roam around the streets to search and get Pokemons, or pocket monsters in real world areas. In the game, players use a mobile device's GPS capability to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokmon, who appear on the screen as if they were in the same real-world location as the player. Whereas, Pokemon Go uses GPS for its augmented reality, or AR, where various nearby landmarks are checkpoints called Pokstops and Pokgyms; Whereas, Pokemon Go is now in the Philippines since August 6, 2016 and has drawn a large number of enthusiasts; Whereas, Pokemon Go's users in Dumaguete City are even meeting up in certain areas for largescale Pokemon catching sprees; Whereas, users are sometimes finding Pokmon in unexpected and uncomfortable locations. Users have had encounters with these virtual creatures in hospitals, while driving, in the bathroom and at funeral homes; Whereas, Pokemon Go has raised safety concerns among players it has been reported that multiple people suffered minor injuries from falling while playing the game due to being distracted. Reports from other Countries include accidents due to inattentive driving, Trespassing, and being targeted by criminals due to being unaware of ones surroundings; WHEREFORE, be it resolve as it is hereby resolved, to sternly warm motorist not to play Pokemon Go while driving or operating any vehicle and to remind pedestrians and public in general not to play the game while walking on the sidewalk, or crossing streets or any public areas that will likely to an accidents or mishap due to being distracted by the game. RESOLVED further, while enthusiasts should be allowed to enjoy the game, they should put their safety first as well as the safety of the people around them. They should value their life and the life of others. RESOLVED finally, to furnish copies of the resolution to the office of the City Mayor, PIO and other media instructions.
