COURSE PROPOSAL
Syllabus:
Chapter-1

FREE Software Installation & Introduction To Stadd Pro


(history; methods of analysis; starting, opening files & exiting; opening
screen details of stadd pro)

Chapter-2&3

Geometry Of Structure & Effective Tools For Geometry


(introduction to node, beam & plate - creating a structure by using structural
wizard, spread sheet, transitional repeat & importing autocad file - copy,
paste, rotate, mirror, delete, renumber, undo, redo & add beam commands zooming, panning, dimensioning. local & global co-ordinate systems. )

Chapter-4&5

Material Specification & Support


(types of cross sectional properties of structural elements: cross section,
build in steel table & thickness - material constants & various types of
supports - assigning and editing of the above properties)

Chapter-6&7

Applications of Loads & Analysis


(how to create, edit and assign the primary loads: self weight, nodal load,
member load, area load, floor load. manual & automatic load
combinations - perform analysis command)

Chapter-8

Post Processing
(node reaction & displacement. member shear stress, bending moment &
stress distribution. animation & reports)

Chapter-9

Special Concrete Design


(creating job information, envelope, member, brief & group - special
design - viewing the results for both beam & column: main and shear
layout, main and shear reinforcements and drawing)

Chapter-10

Steel Design
(introduction to the new steel design, creating envelopes, members, briefs,
and groups check code, member select commands & the design report)

Some Important Notes:


1. The STADD pro guidance book of about 250 pages which contains step
by step guidance with screen short pictures and icons will be issued to
the students.
2. And a separate work book with examples will be also issued for
practice.
3. The certificate with the approval of college will be issued at the end of
the course.
4. This course will be conducted with in the college campus which requires
the hall arrangements with projector facility. Students may bring their
own laptop for practice (STADD Pro software installation free).
5. This course requires 7 days which may be in Saturday or Sunday (one
day per week) or in any other convenient days.Depending upon the
students observation capacity this may requires more or less day.

At the end of this course 1 day will be allotted for the


design project works of the final year students.

7. 50% (Rs.2500) of the total fees should be paid during the first day of the
class (For book printing works).
8. This course will be conducted by S.KARTHIVELU Guest Lecturer,
University College of Engineering Chennai- Thirukkuvalai campus.
