A nation should require all of its students to study the same national
curriculum until they enter college.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position. Millions of students, every year pass out of school studying different curriculums depending upon their area of habitation. There are frequent complaints from students following one curriculum that the examinations were tough or criticizing other curriculums for setting comparatively easier examinations. I feel that a nation should require all students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college, some might feel differently too, given that some people only want a minimum level of certification of any curriculum. First of all, many colleges have an entrance exam to select students for their institution, one of the reasons being the varied curriculums all over the country and the failure to establish minimum criteria of eligibility for their institution. For instance, In India, for selection into a prestigious engineering institution the students have to give the "IIT-Mains" and "IIT-Advanced" examinations after giving the curriculum exams commonly known as the "Board Examination". The hassle of these entrance examinations can be avoided if the nation set a uniform curriculum all over the nation and these colleges can establish a minimum aggregate selection in the institutions. Moreover if a student wants to apply for foreign universities and has followed a regional curriculum faces a lot of problems as there is no unbiased grade conversion technique. Hence this will spread a level of uniformity over the nation's academia. On the other hand, some might argue that under privileged children studying in regional government schools following a regional language curriculum will face difficulties in passing school, whose main aim is to complete schooling and look for a decent job with that certification. I feel that the low level of difficulty of these curriculums have created no sense of studiousness in these students and they feel, that no matter what they will clear the exams. On the application of a uniform curriculum will drive away this feeling and these students will get a better and a more dignified certification, which will help them in the long run. To sum up, the above reasons and examples substantiate my claim that a nation should require all students to follow a national curriculum till they enter college.
