1. BEST HERBS TO USE FOR PRE TREATMENT FOOT BATH
1.1. Bath preparation
1.1.1. Baths are normally prepared with warm water in a bowl large enough for
the feet, with a little space free to allow for the water to rise when the feet
are immersed.
1.1.2. Clean towel are required to dry the feet and a dry towel to wrap the feet
afterwards.
1.1.3. Footbaths are great for helping to relieve rheumatic pains and aches and
excessive perspiration. They help with circulation, muscle tension and
revive tired feet.

1.2. Essential oils that can be used


(Dosage As directed or 2-6 drops).

1.2.1. Anti-depressant - benzoin, bergamot, carnation, clary sage, lavender,


lemongrass, neroli, orange
1.2.2. anti-rheumatic - cajuput, celery, chamomile, cypress, eucalyptus,
hyssop, juniper, lemon, lavender, niaouli, oregano, pine, rosemary,
thyme
1.2.3. Anxiety - benzoin, chamomile (Roman), clary sage, jasmine, lavender,

1.2.4. Carminative - angelica, aniseed, basil, bergamot, black pepper, carrot
seed, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, hyssop, juniper, lemon, lemongrass,
melissa, nutmeg, orange, oregano, parsley, peppermint, pimento,
rosemary, spearmint, thyme
1.2.5. Detoxification - cedarwood, grapefruit, lemon, orange, rosemary
1.2.6. Digestive - black pepper, coriander, ginger, lemon, lemongrass,

1.2.12. Anti-bacterial - aegle, ageratum, citronella, eucalyptus, geranium,


lemongrass, orange, palmarosa, patchouli and peppermint.
1.2.13. Other uses for essential oils in foot baths for specific conditions:

1.3. Chinese herbs that can be used
1.3.1. Ankle injuries - Sappan wood (30g), peach kernel and resinous
secretion (12g of each), safflower, frankincense and myrrh (10g of each),
pyrite (20g); prepare as a decoction by boiling for 10 min, add to warm
water in foot bath
1.3.2. Limbs coldness - Cassia twig and dried ginger (15g of each),
monkshood (10g); prepare as decoction by boiling for 10 min, add to
warm water in foot bath
1.3.3. Fungal infection of the feet - Oldenlandia herb, cnidium seeds and
dictamnus root bark (30g of each), baical skullcap root and oriental
water-plantain root (15g of each); prepare as a decoction by boiling for
10 min, add to warm water in foot bath.
1.3.4. Safflower - Dispels blood stasis, alleviates pain
1.3.5. Caulis Sargentodoxae - pain and blood stasis
1.3.6. Clematis - Dispels wind-damp and unblocks the channels, relieves pain
1.3.7. Lobelia - Reduce Edema, Promote Urination, Regulate Waterways,
Clears Heat and Toxin, Cools Blood
1.1. Other products and oils and herbs
1.1.1. Epsom salt is very poplar foot bath substance contains magnesium
sulfate which aids in detoxification, soothing muscles, and softening skin.
Both minerals are important to the body and can be absorbed through
the skin. Magnesium helps keep enzyme levels and organ functions in
balance, while sulfate is important for brain and joint protein formation.
Sulfate can strengthen the walls of digestive tract, where many diseases
starts, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine.

1.1.2. Tea Tree Oil with Epsom Salt, helps treat nail fungus, athletes foot &
stubborn foot odor.
1.1.3. Mix a tablespoon of sea salt, Epsom salts, and 2 tablespoons of baking

soda in the foot bath to detox the body.

1.1.4. Mix 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts and 2 teaspoons of ginger for a

warming and relaxing foot bath.

1.1.5. Mix 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts, one peppermint tea bag and one

chamomile tea bag. The tea detoxes and is relaxing and soothing.

1.1.6. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of liquid soap (like Dr Bronners

pure castile soap), 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons


of sweet almond oil. The honey acts as an antibacterial and antifungal
ingredient. Honey also works well for exfoliation and moisturisation and
the oils soften the tough skin of the foot.
