Title of project:

ATM Monitoring App

Please record which module(s) your topic is related to:

Databases & Data Structures (AAPP001-3-2-DBDS)

1.

Introduction
Assume the reader has very little knowledge of the subject. Introduce the topic, the sector of business/industry
concerned and how the project relates to it. Define the context of the problem and identify the research
required to solve it.

First and foremost, present ATM (Automated Teller Machine) systems are able to be
managed and surveillance in internal environment. However the processes of ATM
activities monitoring could not be actual performs under external environment or
emergency situation such as particular authorities are outstation. Besides of ATM
activities itself, the overall network activities which connecting ATMs to ATMs, ATMs to
bank workstation, also must be records so any arises of defect as well as ATMs
maintenance procedure could be instantly resolves with costless in the future.
In order to provide a solution to overcome situation of annoyance in monitoring ATMs
network and activity to user, which ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) comes in and
virtual circuit will be established. The proposed project will introduce a portable
application for ATM activities and networks monitoring. Users are then able to manage
and surveillance particular ATMs in different devices plus no user training are needed due
to effortless interaction during uses.

2.

Problem Statement
Identify past and current work in the subject area. Outline the key references to other peoples work, indicate
for the most pertinent of these how your proposal relates to the ideas they contain.

Dedicated circuit
Circuit-switched is a type of network in which a physical path is obtained for and
dedicated to a single connection between two end-points in the network for the duration of
the connection.
In contrast, a network connected in physical path would not dynamically result the
bandwidth and path from point to point (Malhotra, et al., 2011). Yet point-to-point links
are generally more expensive than shared services such as Frame Relay. Data and
information transmission in the dedicated type of circuit switch packet must be setup from
initial to destination and increased risks to build.

Platform-specified Mobile App

In present technology environment, Mobile App developments skill are essential in order
to deliver app for Smart Phone devices and numbers of platform-depended mobile app has
been established for certain Smart Phone products like iPhone, Nexus, and Window
Phones in popular. It therefore inducing the society to emphasize the need of mobile app
that provided several benefits as well as assistants in latter-day banking processes and
enterprise (Ogbuji, et al., 2012).
The problem comes in when establishing a mobile app to applicable in multi-platform, the
developments for native app takes certain duration to output and its (OS)-based platforms
(Stanoevska-Slabeva & Wozniak, 2010). Where this approach are costly and required
particular knowledge area in selected platform. Furthermore, every mobile platform
requires own compiler running on their engines, which lead to the installation and
configuration of particular development tools are somehow time consuming and costly too
(Shi, et al., 2012). For example, iOS app development are required to be written by Xcode
but Window Phone app is written in Microsoft Visual Studio.

Project Aims and Objectives

Identify the AIM(s) of the project, i.e. what the overall achievement is intended to be, in terms of both academic
and commercial/industrial advances. Identify the particular intellectual difficulties posed by the proposal, the
problems to be addressed, and explain how these might be solved. Clearly list individual measurable
OBJECTIVES which can be related to the workplan and deliverables.

Aims and objectives are subject to approval from supervisor and students are expected to revise them
if deemed inappropriate for a Level 3 project.

The aims for the project are to determine certified ATMs and provide monitoring and
management functionalities to end-user, Banks ATM custodian and IT admin. Thus, other
than ATM activity monitoring, network traffic should be recorded and manageable.

To provide host-to-host monitoring.

To deliver the cross-platform mobile application.

To deliver the web-based system.

To make monitoring data and information transmit in ATM (Asynchronous

Transfer Mode) network.

To monitor and manage thousands of ATMs.

To promote reusability and maintainability with INFOPRO mobile UI framework.

4.

Deliverables
Provide a clear list of the outputs from the project.

As the development of this project is to deliver a user-friendly application in order to

manage and monitor activities of particular ATM machines in an ease and reliable. In an
addition, the final product able to be installed and operated in multiple platforms and
services.
The functionalities and operators will be develop in cross mobile phone platform as well
as web-based application. Hence, the final products that been developed shall allow the
end-users of ATM Monitoring App are able to interact and perform the following
operations and functionalities:

Display particular ATM recorded history activities

Store ATM machine information and activities into mobile phone

Transfer ATM machine activity logs detail to authorized user

Virtualized view to network activities and status

Virtualized view to particular ATM activities and connectivity

Touchscreen interaction for input and output
