HYMN OF WORSHIP

Whate’er My God Ordains Is Right

©1998 David Braud Music. Words: Samuel Rodigast. Music: David Braud.

1. Whate’er my God ordains is right,

Holy His will abideth.
I will be still whate’er He does,
And follow where He guideth.
He is my God,
Though dark my road.
He holds me that I shall not fall
Wherefore to Him I leave it all

2. Whate’er my God ordains is right,

He never will deceive me
He leads me by the proper path,
I know He will not leave me
I take, content,
What He hath sent
His hand can turn my griefs away
And patiently I wait His day

3. Whate’er my God ordains is right,

Though now this cup in drinking
May bitter seem to my faint heart,
I take it all unshrinking
My God is true,
Each morn anew
Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart
And pain and sorrow shall depart

4. Whate’er my God ordains is right,

Here shall my stand be taken
Though sorrow, need, or death be mine,
Yet I am not forsaken
My Father’s care
3
Is round me there
He holds me that I shall not fall
And so to Him I leave it all

HYMN OF WORSHIP

Wondrous King, all glorious,

Sovereign Lord victorious,
O, receive our praise with favor!
From thee welled God's kindness
Though we in our blindness
Strayed from thee, our blessed Saviour.
Strengthen thou,
Help us now;
Let our tongues be singing,
Thee our praises bringing.

Heavens, spread the story

Of our Maker's glory,
All the pomp of earth obscuring.
Sun, thy rays be sending,
Thy bright beams expending,
Light to all the earth assuring.
Moon and star,
Praise afar
Him who glorious made you;
The vast heavens aid you.
5
O my soul, rejoicing,
Sing, thy praises voicing,
Sing, with hymns of faith adore him!
All who here have being,
Shout, your voices freeing,
Bow down in the dust before him.
He is God
Sabaoth;
Praise alone the Saviour,
Here and there for ever.

Hallelujahs render
To the Lord most tender,
Ye who know and love the Saviour.
Hallelujahs sing ye,
Ye redeemed, O, bring ye
Hearts that yield him glad behavior.
Blest are ye
Endlessly;
Sinless there for ever,
Why do we take Ye shall laud him ever.

is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In
the same way, he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is
the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in
remembrance of me.’ For whenever you eat this bread and drink
this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

God, I am beginning to see that I am more sinful and lost than I

Christ, his atoning death and his perfect life, which are credited to
me when I turn from my sin and trust in Jesus. Help me to
embrace Christ as he is offered to me in the gospel, and in
believing, help me live a new life.

PRAYER FOR CHRISTIANS STRUGGLING WITH SIN

O Lord, my transgression is ever before me! It clings to me! Help
me believe that the Gospel is bigger than my sin. Help me see
that Jesus’ work not only frees me from the penalty of sin, but
also breaks sin’s power. As I feast on the bread and wine,
convince me that I am no longer struggling to be free from sin,
but that in Christ I am now free to struggle with my sin.

COMMUNION HYMNS

Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken

©2001 Bill Moore Music. Words: Henry Lyte. Music: Bill Moore.

1. Jesus, I my cross have taken, 4. Go, then, earthly fame and treasure,
All to leave and follow Thee. Come disaster, scorn and pain
Destitute, despised, forsaken, In Thy service, pain is pleasure,
Thou from hence my all shall be. With Thy favor, loss is gain
Perish every fond ambition, I have called Thee Abba Father,
All I’ve sought or hoped or known. I have stayed my heart on Thee
Yet how rich is my condition! Storms may howl, and clouds may gather;
God and heaven are still my own. All must work for good to me.

2. Let the world despise and leave me, 5. Soul, then know thy full salvation
They have left my Savior, too. Rise o’er sin and fear and care
Human hearts and looks deceive me; Joy to find in every station,
Thou art not, like them, untrue. Something still to do or bear.
O while Thou dost smile upon me, Think what Spirit dwells within thee,
God of wisdom, love, and might, Think what Father’s smiles are thine,
Foes may hate and friends disown me, Think that Jesus died to win thee,
Show Thy face and all is bright. Child of heaven, canst thou repine.

3. Man may trouble and distress me, 6. Haste thee on from grace to glory,
’Twill but drive me to Thy breast. Armed by faith, and winged by prayer.
Life with trials hard may press me; Heaven’s eternal days before thee,
Heaven will bring me sweeter rest. God’s own hand shall guide us there.
Oh, ’tis not in grief to harm me Soon shall close thy earthly mission,
While Thy love is left to me; Soon shall pass thy pilgrim days,
Oh, ’twere not in joy to charm me, Hope shall change to glad fruition,
Were that joy unmixed with Thee. Faith to sight, and prayer to praise.

Nothing but the Blood.
Public Domain. Words and music: Robert Lowry.

1. What can wash away my sin? 3. Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus; Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again? Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(Repeat chorus)
CH: Oh! Precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow; 4. This is all my hope and peace,
No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus. This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
2. For my pardon, this I see, (Repeat chorus)
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing, this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
(Repeat chorus)

Our Hopes for Denton

 We hope Christ will create out of the diverse communities of our city, a new
worshipping community that will experience the grace, joy and freedom of the
gospel. “Praise awaits you O God in Zion...blessed are those you have chosen. We
are filled with the good things of your House!” (Psalm 65)

 We hope we will become a welcoming community open to the skeptic, the

seeker, the new convert and the struggling Christian.

 We hope we will meet the spiritual, physical and social needs of the people
around us and share together in the life of Christ. “They broke bread in each
others’ homes with glad and sincere hearts, enjoying the favor of all the people. And
God added to their number daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47)

 We hope we will become a serving community that loves our city and gives to,
challenges, and changes Denton through gospel ministries of word, justice
and mercy. “When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices.” (Proverbs 11:10)

 We hope we will become a growing community that helps establish other

churches around North Texas, the nation and the world. “All over the world this
gospel is bearing fruit and growing.” (Colossians 1:6)
