holds 45th class reunion
The Kohler class of 1971 held its 45th class reunion
at Lost Woods Park in Kohler. Twenty-ve percent
of the class and four faculty members attended including Richard Packer, Bryan Leitch, Bruce Erick-

son and Dan Buhr. This was the rst class taught by
Bryan Leitch in 1963, when he began his teaching
career at Kohler.

Reunion held for 1967-68 Kohler basketball players


The Kohler 1967-68 basketball
team had a recent reunion to honor their coach Bruce Erickson.
This team was ranked as one of
the best in school history. They
averaged 90 points a game for the
regular season. The scored over
100 points in six of their games
and over ninety in four others.
They set the standard for the
championship teams that would
come after them.

gardener level 1 training
Whether you are an experienced
gardener with a green thumb
or just a beginner gardener with
energy and desire to learn more
about your hobby, the University
of Wisconsin Extension Master
Gardener Volunteer program may
be for you.
Master Gardener Volunteers
are trained volunteers who assist
the sta of the University of Wisconsin Extension in helping their
communities better understand
horticulture and the environment.
There are currently about 85
members belonging to the Sheboygan County Master Gardener
Volunteer Association.
The General Master Gardener
Volunteer class is being oered
this fall starting on September 6,
2016. The classes will be held on
12 consecutive Tuesday evenings
from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the

Sheboygan County UW-Extension Oce, 5 University Drive,


Sheboygan. Cost of the program
is $89.00, which includes: Master
Gardener Program Manual, online & classroom instruction, and
memberships in both the Wisconsin Master Gardener and Sheboygan County Master Gardener Associations. Registration deadline
is September 1st.
The general class is intended to
be an introductory course covering a wide range of horticultural
topics. Among the topics to be
covered include: Vegetable Crops,
Introduction to Turf Management,
Plant Pathology, Backyard Wildlife, Weeds and Pest Management,
Entomology, Fruit Crops, Using
Native Plants, Invasive Plants,
Woody Landscape Plants, Soils
and Fertility, Plant Propagation,
Herbaceous Annuals and Perenni-

als, and Fruit Crops.


The classes are delivered using a combination of on-line and
classroom presentations. University of Wisconsin horticultural
faculty, horticultural educators,
and others with expertise in specic horticultural areas will be
providing the instruction.
In order to become a certied
Master Gardener Volunteer, participants must attend the classes,
complete a nal exam and volunteer time back to the community
in a horticultural related project.
