operating Huawei equipment, in addition to following the general precautions in this document, follow the
specific safety instructions given by Huawei. Huawei will not be liable for any consequences that are caused by
the violation of safety regulations and design, production, and usage standards.

Local Safety Regulations

When operating Huawei equipment, you must follow the local laws and regulations.

Personnel Requirements
Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to install, operate, and maintain Huawei equipment.
You can modify default parameters only after being granted approval from Huawei technical support.

Symbols
Alerts you to a potentially hazardous situation that could, if not avoided, result in equipment damage, data loss,
performance deterioration, or unanticipated results.

Provides additional information to emphasize or supplement important points in the main text.

Human Safety
To prevent electric shocks, get the tool insulated and wear insulation gloves when connecting cables.
To prevent inhalation or eye contact with dust, take adequate preventive measures when drilling holes.

Network Diagrams

PowerCube 1000 (ESS-H) V300R002C03 (PowerCube 1000 for short) applies to four scenarios: mains+energy storage system (ESS), energy plant system
(EPS)+mains+ESS, diesel generator (D.G.)+mains+ESS (HUAWEI AC transfer switch [ATS]), and D.G.+mains+ESS (reused ATS). The D.G. described
in this document refers to a reused D.G.
If the communications equipment has only one power input, switch the power supply after power-off with the customer's prior consent.
If the communications equipment has two power inputs, check the busbar voltage after connecting a power cable to the new power cabinet. If the busbar
voltage is normal, disconnect the power cable from the original power cabinet.
The installation process described in this document is for reference only.

Assemble the support.

a. Adjust the support height.
1. Use a ruler to measure the distance between the
concrete pad and the upper surface of the antistatic floor.
2. Adjust the height of the support based on the
measurement result.
3. Partially tighten the height locking bolts on both sides.

Adjust the support height (H) based on the ESD floor height.

19

b. Assemble and level the support.

1. Adjust the telescopic rod based on the cabinet width until the scale indicating the cabinet width is displayed.
2. Use a torque socket to secure the six M8 x 20 screw assemblies on the telescopic rods to 13 Nm.
3. Assemble the telescopic rod and support using eight M8 x 20 screw assemblies and ensure that the protruding side of
the guide rail faces outwards. Then tighten all screw assemblies using a torque socket to a torque of 13 Nm.
4. Use a level to check the levelness of the support. If the support is not horizontal, loosen the bolt and slightly adjust the
support till it is level.
5. Use a torque socket to secure all the bolts that are used to fix the height to 45 Nm.

Install the support.

1. Install the expansion bolt.
2. Check the support levelness by using a level.
3. If the support is not level, place shims under the support.
4. Use a torque socket to fasten the four expansive bolts to 45 Nm.

20

Secure the cabinet.

1. Place the cabinet on the supports, and align the installation holes of the cabinet with the holes of the supports.
2. Fit the spring washer, flat washer and insulation covering on the four M12 x 40 bolts. Insert them into the installation
holes and tighten the bolts a bit, but do not fasten them.
3. Lift one side of the cabinet and insert the insulation plate under the cabinet, Insert another insulation plate under the
other side of the cabinet. Ensure that the gaps properly lock the bolts.

(Optional) Installing the Indoor ESU Rack

For details, see the installation manual delivered with the indoor ESU rack.

24

d
a

(Optional) Installing the GPRS Board (MUC01A)

When you move or hold plastic objects, a static electromagnetic field is generated due to the friction of your clothes, of your shoes
against the floor, and of your hand against the plastic object. The static electromagnetic field is not easy to fade before discharge is
complete. Therefore, to prevent the static electricity from damaging sensitive components, wear an ESD wrist strap that is well grounded
before contacting equipment, such as holding a board or an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC).
GPRS stands for general packet radio system.

After the EPS starts to charge ESUs, check whether the information on the ECC500 LCD screen matches the actual
configurations. If no, check cable connections and part configurations.
Enter the main menu from the ECC5000 LCD screen and perform a D.G. check. If the D.G. check fails, rectify the fault by
referring to the PowerCube 1000 V300R002C03 Engineer Guide.

Before starting the EPS, fill the EPS with diesel fuel and engine oil, and check that the EPS battery voltage is above 12 V.

An EPS check takes about 4 minutes.

Check the ESM-A01

Flip all switches on the ESM-A01 to ON.
ON

OFF

If the loads are powered on for the first time, initialization starts automatically to balance the voltage differences between
ESU strings. Wait 15 minutes until the initialization is complete and check that:

Typically, the initialization is complete within 30 minutes. If the voltage difference between ESU strings is great, the initialization may
take 3.5 hours.
Stay at the site before the initialization is complete.
a. The RUN indicators on all ESMU-01As blink at short intervals, and the CHGH or DCHG indicators are steady on.

b. The ECC500 displays that the ESS voltage ranges from 51 V DC to 57 V DC.
c. No ECC500 or ESMU-01As generate an alarm.
Set parameters as shown in the following figure to check that the displayed number of ESMUs is the same as the actual
number.

Powering On Loads
Switch on all load circuit breakers one by one. During the process, measure the busbar voltage using a clamp meter after
switching on each circuit breaker. Then continue to switch on another circuit breaker after ensuring that the busbar voltage
ranges from 44.5 V DC to 57.6 V DC.

3 Checking After Power-On

Verify that the values on the ECC500 LCD screen are the same as the actual configurations and no Alarm indicator on any
component is on. If an alarm is generated or an Alarm indicator is on, rectify the fault by referring to the PowerCube 1000
V300R002C03 Engineer Guide.
If no exception occurs after the PowerCube 1000 runs for about 1 hour, the commissioning is complete.
Reinstall all panels and check that the cabinet paint is intact and repaint the areas devoid of paint. Seal cable holes by
using fireproof mud and clean up unnecessary things. Close and lock the cabinet door, and hand the keys over to the
person in charge.
