Precautions
Safety Precautions
To ensure safety of humans and the equipment, pay attention to the safety symbols on the equipment and all
the safety instructions in this document. The "NOTE", "CAUTION", and "WARNING" marks in other documents
do not represent all the safety instructions. They are only supplements to the safety instructions. When
operating Huawei equipment, in addition to following the general precautions in this document, follow the
specific safety instructions given by Huawei. Huawei will not be liable for any consequences that are caused by
the violation of safety regulations and design, production, and usage standards.
Personnel Requirements
Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to install, operate, and maintain Huawei equipment.
You can modify default parameters only after being granted approval from Huawei technical support.
Symbols
Alerts you to a potentially hazardous situation that could, if not avoided, result in equipment damage, data loss,
performance deterioration, or unanticipated results.
Provides additional information to emphasize or supplement important points in the main text.
Human Safety
To prevent electric shocks, get the tool insulated and wear insulation gloves when connecting cables.
To prevent inhalation or eye contact with dust, take adequate preventive measures when drilling holes.
To prevent personal injury, wear protective shoes when moving ESUs.
Network Diagrams
PowerCube 1000 (ESS-H) V300R002C03 (PowerCube 1000 for short) applies to four scenarios: mains+energy storage system (ESS), energy plant system
(EPS)+mains+ESS, diesel generator (D.G.)+mains+ESS (HUAWEI AC transfer switch [ATS]), and D.G.+mains+ESS (reused ATS). The D.G. described
in this document refers to a reused D.G.
If the communications equipment has only one power input, switch the power supply after power-off with the customer's prior consent.
If the communications equipment has two power inputs, check the busbar voltage after connecting a power cable to the new power cabinet. If the busbar
voltage is normal, disconnect the power cable from the original power cabinet.
The installation process described in this document is for reference only.

When you move or hold plastic objects, a static electromagnetic field is generated due to the friction of your clothes, of your shoes
against the floor, and of your hand against the plastic object. The static electromagnetic field is not easy to fade before discharge is
complete. Therefore, to prevent the static electricity from damaging sensitive components, wear an ESD wrist strap that is well grounded
before contacting equipment, such as holding a board or an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC).
GPRS stands for general packet radio system.

cable.
a. Remove the protective cover from the ESMU, and install the negative ESU cable. Then reinstall the protective lid and
protective cover.
b. Install the positive ESU cable and then the protective lid.
37
1. When connecting cables to ESU-Fs, wear protective gloves and use insulated tools (such as a wrench with its handle wrapped with PVC
insulation tape).
2. Partially tighten bolts first. After connecting all cables to ESUs, tighten the bolts on ESU-Fs. The reference torque for tightening bolts is
1520 N.m.
3. Before connecting a cable to a ESU-F, remove the protective lid from the ESU-F and then reinstall it after connecting the cable.
4. First connect cables in series between ESU-Fs and then connect cables between ESU-Fs and the busbar. When connecting cables of
ESU-Fs, connect the cable that connected with the ESU of the rear cabinet firstly, then connect other cables of ESUs on front cabinet in
series and in sequence secondly, finally connect the other cables of ESUs on rear cabinet in series and in sequence.
5. Before installing the power cables of ESUs, remove randomly one cable between one ESU and its adjacent ESU.

The three phases of the signal cable for monitoring AC voltages must be in one-to-one relationship with the three
phases of the signal cable for monitoring AC currents.
When connecting the terminals of the signal cable for monitoring AC voltages to the ATS, ensure that the
terminals closely attach to the copper chips in the circuit breakers on the ATS. Then tighten the screws on the
circuit breakers to secure the signal cable terminals to the circuit breakers.

After the EPS starts to charge ESUs, check whether the information on the ECC500 LCD screen matches the actual
configurations. If no, check cable connections and part configurations.
Enter the main menu from the ECC5000 LCD screen and perform a D.G. check. If the D.G. check fails, rectify the fault by
referring to the PowerCube 1000 V300R002C03 Engineer Guide.
Before starting the EPS, fill the EPS with diesel fuel and engine oil, and check that the EPS battery voltage is above 12 V.

If the loads are powered on for the first time, initialization starts automatically to balance the voltage differences between
ESU strings. Wait 15 minutes until the initialization is complete and check that:
Typically, the initialization is complete within 30 minutes. If the voltage difference between ESU strings is great, the initialization may
take 3.5 hours.
Stay at the site before the initialization is complete.
