Revise FOV

Revise the topics and do exam questions related to the topics. For done work,
cover the questions, do the questions again to make sure you really know the
answers.
Use about 3 hours (1.5hr per subject) over the weekends to revise.
Doing a little at a time will reduce your exam stress.
Decision is yours.
Doing English Practice Papers
Expectations:
1. Do grammar workings in Grammar MCQ and Editing in Booklet B, show me how you
decide on the tense, subject-verb agreement (singular/plural) and the forms of verbs.
2. Check dictionary for all words you do not know after finishing the paper. Test yourself
first as an exam paper. You then check dictionary to learn.
3. Comprehension: Use the strategies
Comprehension Strategies Learnt
Step/Strategy 1: Read the questions first to gather information using CSI-PS
Characters, Setting, Important information - Problem or Solution
Step/Strategy 2: Read the passage once then twice to do annotation
- Annotation - Write small notes at the side of the passage to help yourself make sense
of the passage and search for answers. It also helps you to identify the main ideas of the
paragraph.
Step/Strategy 3: Go back to the questions to identify the tenses to be used when
answering the questions.
Step/Strategy 4: Identify the question types at the side of the questions.
So far, you have learnt:
1. Parallel Ideas Questions: Requires you to find answers with the same ideas as the
words in quotation marks or find answers to support the words or situation given in the
questions.
- You will need to do key word search for synonyms, antonyms, examples or explanation

that supports the answers.

2. Reason-oriented questions: Usually comes with "Explain" and "Why". You will need
to find evidence to explain the end results.
Use ABC Approach
A- End Results (Given in the question)
B- The first logical explanation that comes to your mind
C- The evidence to support your logic.
3. Reference Questions: Usually comes with "refer".
- Remember to put it in context (example: If it refers to droppings, then whose?) The
answer is usually found in the sentence before.
Answer with It refers to
4.. Rephrasing Questions: Usually asking you to explain what a phrase in quotation
marks " " means.
Step 1: Rephrase the phrase in the quotation marks "____". Do not repeat any of the
words in the phrase. Use your own words to write the phrase.
Step 2: Put it in context. Explain who did that "___" phrase or who felt the phrase or who
did the phrase.
Step/Strategy 5: Key word search and mark the answer in the passage.
As you search for the answers, use key word search. The answers may be around the
key words, be it in the sentences before the key words of after.
- Underline the answers and mark the question numbers.
Step/Strategy 6: Check that you have answered the questions
Write answers that answer the questions. NEVER copy the sentence from the passage
and think that your job is done. Check that your answer answers the questions.
Step/Strategy 7: Check your answers for errors
Spelling: Check that you have spelt/copied the spelling of words correctly.
Punctuation: Check that your punctuation is correct. Check your handwriting, make sure
your capital letters are really looking like capital letters.
Grammar: Check your grammar. Make sure your subject-verb agreement, tenses and
pronouns are correct.
