Chalk the Walk!

If youre in downtown Glasgow and see some very cool

drawings and happy thoughts as you stroll down the
sidewalks, an energetic group of gals are guilty of bringing
smiles to our faces this morning. Chalk the Walk is a national
project in the effort of spreading joy, optimism and inspiration
through the magical power of sidewalk chalk. This is a
project that.... (sorry, cant give you any more information
on Chalk the Walk as our internet went down and was still
down as of 10:30 and counting. And yes, we paid our bill!
We made a phone call and there was a widespread outage,
so BS Central wasnt the only place affected.)

Tribal bison are on hold

Leaders of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux

tribes on Monday requested the transfer of 49 wild bison
from Yellowstone National Park to the Fort Peck Indian
Reservation. Tribal Chairman Floyd Azure made the
request to the Montana Board of Livestock yesterday.
These 49 bison were captured last winter under a
program that restricts the animals seasonal migration
into Montana as many Yellowstone bison carry brucellosis.
Thats a disease feared by the livestock industry because
it can cause cattle to abort their young. Also, not being
certified as brucellosis-free state can be devestating to
Montanas cattle market.
State veterinarian Marty Zaluski reminded livestock
board members that state law prohibits moving the bison
until they are certified as disease-free.
Doc Zaluski says the animals need to remain in
quarantine inside or near Yellowstone for up to two-anda-half years to be certain theyre not infected. He says that
only then would they be considered disease-free.

A passenger in a taxi leaned over to ask the driver
a question and tapped him on the shoulder. The driver
screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove
up over the curb, and stopped just inches from a large
plate glass window.
For a few moments everything was silent in the cab,
and then the still-shaking driver said, Im sorry, but
you scared the daylights out of me.
The frightened passenger apologized to the driver
and said he didnt realize a mere tap on the shoulder
could frighten him so much.
The driver replied, No, no, Im sorry, really, its
entirely my fault. Today is my first day driving a cab. Ive
been driving a hearse for the last 25 years.

Block Management access

guides are now available

Whether hunting public or private land the

successful hunter will spend time scouting an area
and talking with locals to identify good hunting
opportunities and establish personal relationships.
The first thing you will need is a good set of maps.
Block Management provides hunters with access
to private and isolated public land while assisting
landowners in managing hunting activities. FWP
publishes the Directory of Montana Maps which
provides a listing of all agency and local government
contacts where you can find land ownership
information. Also, contact the Bureau of Land
Management, U.S. Forest Service, the US Geological
Survey, or a local sporting goods store for a map of the
area you intend to hunt.
Land ownership changes over time. Its a good
idea to verify public ownership with your local land
management agency. You can also verify public
and private land ownership on the web through the
Montana Department of Administration Cadastral
Mapping Project.
All hunters should have a good understanding of
Montanas access laws. The law requires every hunter
to have permission from the landowner, lessee or
agent before hunting on private property regardless of
whether the land is posted or not. It is every hunters
responsibility to know the land ownership of the area
he intends to hunt and any land use restrictions that
may apply there.
