KENNYWOOD TRIP UPDATE! (June 12th)
I am pleased to announce that the bus to Kennywood has
been completely filled. If any other altar server wishes to
attend, I will be more than happy to buy your ticket, but
you would have to arrange your own transportation. We
will be contacting you over the next couple of weeks to
arrange payment. You can either bring it by the
St. Anthony Office between the hours of 9 a.m.—2 p.m.
weekdays, or leave it in the collection basket marked to

In many organizations the truth is hard to find, but in
family life we are told the truth whether we want to hear
it or not. Truth must be tempered with sensitivity kind-
ness. We are challenged to disagree agreeably, correct
constructively and fight fairly.
Peter’s Pence Collection: Thank you for your generous
support of the essential work of the Holy Father and his
charitable acts through the Peter’s Pence Collection. You
have helped to cast Christ’s love upon the world.
Homebound Helpers Needed! Ever since the very first
day I arrived here, I have wanted to establish a
Lay Person Homebound Visitation program. That is, I am
looking for volunteers to bring Communion on (at least) a
monthly basis to our parishioners who are Homebound.
Now that the Deacon is here, he is going to help me estab-
lish this program. Not counting the nursing homes, I have
on my list 12 shut-ins for Holy Spirit and 6 shut-ins for
St. Anthony. The following people from both parishes
have expressed an interest: Jane Bonasso, John White,
Joe Meluzio, Sandra Costello and Mike Nunan. If anyone
else is interested, please call the office. The more volun-
teers that we have, the more our Homebound people that
we can see. If you know someone who needs to be added

Food Pantry Donations Reminder: Donations are
being collected next weekend (June 5-6). Food items can
be placed in the bins at all church doors and pink enve-
lopes are provided for monetary donations. All dona-

Sister Mary DiDominico’s Retirement: Be sure to mark
your calendars and join us in wishing Sister a very special
and very happy Retirement as Principal at Fairmont
Catholic School. A special Reception is being given in
her honor! When? Sunday, June 13th 2010 from 2-5 p.m.
Where? At the old Church building now called
“Gatherings” on Monroe Street, across from the old Fair-
mont Police Station & Fire Department building, next to
the Verizon building. Be sure to spread the word to all her
former students and their families, and to the Community
as a whole!
Principal Search: Fairmont Catholic Grade School, es-
tablished in 1927, is a Kindergarten through Eighth Grade
school located in Fairmont, West Virginia. Fairmont
Catholic is supported by the three Catholic Parishes of
Fairmont, WV, and is part of the Diocese of Wheeling-
Charleston. A Designated Pastor is appointed by the
Bishop to serve as Pastor of the School. We are seeking
qualified candidates to interview for the position of Prin-
cipal for 2010-2011 school year. A qualified candidate is
a practicing Catholic; possesses a master’s degree in edu-
cational administration or a related field; has three (3)
years Catholic School teaching and/or administrative ex-
perience, preferably at the elementary level; is certified or
eligible for certification in the State of West Virginia; and
is committed to meeting the requirements of basic reli-
gious education certification in the Diocese of Wheeling-
Charleston. Interested candidates should submit a resume

Catholic Sharing Appeal Progress: As of April 30,
2010, Holy Spirit is at 33% of goal and St. Anthony is at
18% of goal. Let’s keep those pledges coming in! Thank

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ): Come join us the
weekend of July 10-12th, 2010 at St. Mary’s Church in
Star City for the TEC# 39 experience. For three days you
will not have to work, clean your room, or be bothered by
the other demands placed on you every day. For three
days you will be fed and pampered. So, step out of your
busy life and spend your weekend discovering a new per-
spective on the Paschal Mystery. The cost of the weekend

The Sacrament of Confirmation was beautifully ex-
perienced at Holy Spirit last weekend. 34 Confirmandi
from our parishes were confirmed by Most Rev. Bishop
Michael Bransfield. The Holy Spirit came down over a
full church including Fr. John, Fr. Paul Hudock, Deacon
Steve, 20 musicians, 7 altar servers and our guests. The
Confirmandi each received The Catholic Answer Bible
from our parishes, a special picture frame from the St.
Elizabeth Guild and a reception for 300 was a gift from
the Ladies of Holy Spirit.—your church secretary
This is my first experience on the Confirmation Team. I
felt the strong presence of the Holy Spirit on Sunday, I
learned so much in the process and it turned out very nice.

Catholic Charities West Virginia—Child and Adult
Care Food Program (CACFP): Growing Healthy Chil-
dren one meal at a time: The program is designed to help
promote healthy food choices for meals in homes where
child care is occurring. For further information call (304)

Disaster Relief Mission Trip Planned: Another Ecu-
menical Disaster Relief Work Team Mission Trip is
planned for June 28-July 3. In light of the recent flood
disaster in Southern WV, the group will be travelilng to
work in the Mingo/Wyoming counties. Over a thousand
homes were impacted in this isolated area of the state. At
this reconstruction where this is feasible. The group will
be focused upon the reconstruction.
As in past the team will be open to all people of faith
from the area who wish to participate. The trip is planned
in cooperation with the Greater Fairmont Area Council of
Churches (GFCOC) and its member churches. One does
not have to be affiliated with a member congregation of
the GFCOC in order to participate.
All participants must be at least 14 years of age
and those between the ages of 14-18 must be accompa-
nied by an adult. Each participant will need to be in good
health and have a recent tetanus shot. The fee for each
participant will be $75 and we encourage those wishing to
participate to petition their local congregation for assis-
tance in meeting the cost if necessary. This fee will help
cover transportation, food, and lodging for the duration of
the trip. Those interested in coming for part of the week
are welcome and the fee will be prorated, but they must
arrange their own transportation. The group will be work-
ing Monday, June 29—Friday, July 3 and returning late
Friday night.
The needs of the group are as follows:
1) Participants for the cooperative work teams-skilled
and unskilled needed.
2) Monetary donations to purchase materials (Goal of
$5000)
3) Prayers of the community to help support the work
team’s mission.
Encountering God’s Grace in the Midst of Suffering
will be the theme for our trip and a topic for reflection
and discussion during the week.
Anyone interested in learning more about this work team
