GOD is ALL

Principle One By the Reverend Nancy Norman

[This article, the first of five, is designed to give a better understanding of the Truth Principles on which we base our teachings and life.]
God is all, both invisible and visible. One Presence, Knowledge, and
Power is All. This One that is All is Perfect Life, Love, Intelligence and
Substance. Statement of Fundamentals, Unity.
In Unity, we often speak of principles; we talk about living
our lives according to Truth
Principles. We say things
like, I need to get back
to principle. or What
principle do I need to
look at in this situation?
It has occurred to me
that as we speak freely
about principles, many of
us need a clearer
definition of the subject.
Principles are simple,
yet powerful, profound
models that help us
understand the world in
which we live. Webster's
says that principles are general
or scientific laws that show how something works. I believe
we could add that the term principles applies not only to
general scientific laws, but also to spiritual laws that
show us how something works and how these laws work
every time they are put to use.
Principles have the same results no matter where, when,
what, why or who uses them. Principles are forever, and we
never have to question their validity. They don't wear out, rust
out, dry out, or wash out; they can't be used up, depleted, or
exhausted. Remember? Principles are simple yet powerful,
profound models that help us understand the world in which
we live.
Principles are expressions of the One Principle, God.
The basic foundational Principle of Truth is, There is but
One Presence and One Power, God the everywhere
present Spirit of Absolute Good!
We have all had false impressions of God. Depending on
our early training, we gathered information from our families,
churches, school, and society and formed a patchwork of

beliefs. Many of us grew up with the idea that God was a

supernatural being who created the world a long time ago
and now watches over His creation from Heaven. This God is
often viewed as a judgmental, angry, and punishing God; a
God that can never be trusted. As we have grown up, matured
and come face to face with life and its issues, that early
concept of God has not been big enough to handle the
challenges of our lives.
So, we have searched, and through that search found a
new understanding of God and His relationship with His
beloved creation. Our God is not a reluctant God, but a
loving, caring, protective God, who does not punish, but
loves His creation. It is of great comfort to know that God is
with us, every step we take on this path of life. We need not
doubt or fear, we are His beloved creation in whom He is
well pleased. He loves us and cares for us. We were not
thrown into this life experience and told, Figure it out,
struggle, strain, it's up to you. We don't have a punishing,
disinterested, reluctant God.
God is absolute good! God is all-knowing (omniscient);
the source of all knowledge. We have access to all of the
wisdom and intelligence in the universe. We are one with
God-Mind; the all knowingness of God. There is an answer
readily available to us for every question. If there is a decision
or choice to be made, know that we are one with Divine
Intelligence, and ask God to reveal what would be the highest
good for all concerned. Then, listen to the still small voice
within. It might not answer immediately, but it will answer
and then you follow God's lead.
God is everywhere present (omnipresent), equally present
in the universe. There is not a spot where God is not!
Wherever we are, God is; we are never alone no matter what
we may be going through; God is with us, guiding and
protecting us at all times, and all places. He is with us in times
of joy and in times of despair. Start the day with the idea of
God's protective presence going before you, clearing the way
for a happy, prosperous, successful day. Feel His presence.
Relax in the arms of God, knowing that all is well in your
worldbetter and better, moment by moment.

Think Happy, Be Happy

By Jill Reid
As good Truth students we know that happiness is a state of mind that we can control, but sometimes we forget and
need a little reminding. There are books in the UNITY Bookstore that can help us remember that we can change our
lives when we change our thoughts.
WhiteHorses:ASpiritualJourneyalongthePathofHappiness2014
byJohnAstonWhite
When the author, John Aston White, reached one of the darkest moments of his life, a Light began
to shine inside of him that led toward the Path of Happiness. He realized that his life had been ruled
by fear and that the solution was to replace this error with faith in the unconditional love of God,
faith in His omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence, and faith in abundance, infinite
possibilities and eternal life through His Eternal Holy Spirit. White also realized a long list of polar
opposite attributes leading toward either love or hate. On that day, he chose truth. This book, White
Horses, expresses the pearls of wisdom that were unveiled for him as he began to see this Light. To truly express the
oneness of God, oneness of humanity and oneness of religion, White dove deep into the study of comparative religion.
He focused on the writings from Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and the Baha'i
Faith. There are also perspectives from the Unity Church movement and more.
TheHappinessProject2015
byGretchenRubin
In this lively and compelling accountnow updated with new material by the authorRubin
chronicles her adventures during the twelve months she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages,
current scientific research, and lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. Among other
things, she found that novelty and challenge are powerful sources of happiness; that money can
help buy happiness, when spent wisely; that outer order contributes to inner calm; and that the very
smallest of changes can make the biggest difference.
THEARTOFHAPPINESS:AHandbookforLiving,1999
byHowardC.CutlerandHisHoliness,TheDalaiLama
In this unique and important book, one of the world's great spiritual leaders offers his practical
wisdom and advice on how we can overcome everyday human problems and achieve lasting
happiness.

Love and Forgive Yourself

By the Reverend Laurie Durgan
Do you ever make a mistake? Have you ever said and
done something hurtful that you were sorry for? Have you
ever felt really upset and
angry with yourself?
Its okay! Everyone
makes mistakes. Mistakes
are how we learn and
grow. Mistakes are how
we learn to pray and ask
for helpand learn how
to really love God. The
most important thing to

remember when you make a mistake or get upset with

yourself is Love. God always loves you.
There isnt anything you can say or do that can cause
Gods love for you to ever changebut you must let that
love in by loving and forgiving yourself.
Love and forgiveness always feel better than fear and
anger. Love and forgiveness can fill you with peace right
away when you remember to praywhen you remember
that God within you can change you and heal you and help
you to be your best.
God loves youI love you. Nowyou love you.
Miss Laurie

You love me God; I am strong. You love me God; I am free. You love me God; I am
kind.

I warmly invite all those interested to please attend this informative meeting and learn if this program seems right
for you at this time. Listen to current longtime chaplains who will talk about experiences that they have had while
serving and helping others as chaplains, and how their lives have changed.

God is in Charge
By the Reverend Linda Hurley
God is in charge. This is Gods world. Now is Gods time. I am
Gods child. All the forces of the universe are working with me, for I
am working with God. My life is in Divine Order.
Prayer is a process of mind by which the unknowable finds meaning and
becomes Truth; the invisible takes shape and becomes a thing of beauty; the
immeasurable gains substance and becomes matter with value.
Prayer is as much a way of the heart as of the mind, and involves the body no
less than the spirit. Prayer is the way of the whole man.
You shall seek Him and find Him when you shall search for Him with all
your heart. Prayer The Master Key by James Dillet Freeman (1912-2003)
Please join us in the Prayer Room at 10:00 a.m. Tuesdays for our weekly
prayer time together.

By Mary-Lou Bromley
I took a trip to the Azores, an island off of Portugal. We met three of my cousins
there and rented a house. On the third day of my vacation I fell and broke a hip. I
was rushed to the hospital, where they informed me I needed a hip replacement.
The hospital was not pleasant, and four to a room, and I felt petrified to be
operated on there.
I prayed that I could get home. However, I could not bend my leg, and would not
be permitted to fly home that way. Remaining at that hospital felt like a nightmare.
I had gone to Unity of Delray Beach Church two weeks before I left on my trip,
and a guest minister spoke. He started his sermon by saying Picture a bright light
of Christ in your head, coming down into your throat and lungs and abdomen,
down into your legs and removing all illnesses out into the universe.
That stuck in my mind, and I asked the doctor for a wheelchair so I could try to
bend my knee. He told me it was impossible, but he would honor my request.
They brought a wheelchair, and picked me up and placed me in it. The nurse held
my leg and slowly kept bending it as I was repeating to myself, The Light of Christ
is in my leg andmy leg did bend! It was a miracle, and the doctor couldnt
believe it!
It was faith and the power of positive thinking. I got on a plane to Boston the next
day. When my flight landed, an ambulance was waiting to take me to Massachusetts General Hospital where I was
operated on. The doctors in Boston also could not believe how I bent that leg. They said the pain should have been
excruciatingbut it was not. It was truly a miracle of God answering my prayers.

A Truly Awesome Bunch of Kids ~ YOU Teens

The high school-age Youth of Unity group meets at 11 a.m. Sundays in their special
room thats flanked by comfy leather sofas, palpable good will, and bowls that serve
up midday snacks. They participate in spiritual lessons and also raise money for, and
travel together to Rally retreats where they have much fun, meet other Unity teens,
and grow spiritually. The groups sponsors at Unity of Delray Beach are Lynn Van
Dyke-Lee and Rosanna Bermudez-Edwards. Youth Education Director, Rev. Laurie
Durgan, keeps close to the kids as well. Two YOUers featured below graduated from
high school (and YOU) recently: Tia Jenkins and Cameron Lee. The current group
(some are pictured at left with graduate Tia, who is front row right) includes Alexis
Fisher, Ally Angel, Bryson Fisher, Connor Lee, Courtney Chilson, Danielle Parks,
John Senderling, Reed Nugent, Tori Reese and William Pringle.

Tia Jenkins at the International Youth of Unity Conference

On July 4th, 2016, I woke up with exciting images in my
mind of Unity Village and very deep gratitude at the
opportunity to spend time there. When I arrived in Kansas
City, Missouri, my fellow regional YOUers were at the gate
waiting for me. When we pulled up to Unity Village, I was
astonished at how beautiful everything was. It was, to say
the least, VERY different from tropical Florida and utterly
beautiful! The more I ventured around the grounds, the
more beauty I found. There were fountains, gardens,
handcrafted-like buildings, caves, and so much more. One
thing I will never forget is the hour-long walk on the
Labyrinth they had. The energy that surrounded it was so
empowering. It felt like the energy of everyone and
everything that ever passed through it was then flowing
through me.
One of my favorite group activities that I experienced
while at IYOU was called DOUP'S (Dances of Universal
Peace). This consisted of everyone, split into two groups,
forming two circles in the middle of the room and having
everyone face each other (doughnut like shape). They would
teach us chants beforehand in different languages talking

about how we are all equal and

all loved. We would run in
circles chanting. At the end we
would go around the circle to
each person, singing about how
much we loved and cared about
them. I definitely consider the
week I spent at IYOU as one of
the best weeks of my entire life. I met so many friends from
all over the country, even some from South Africa and
Canada all people who have been going to Unity their
whole lives. A few of the quotes I wrote down that I heard
from fellow YOUers that week are as follows:
You are the architect of your life; build it the way you
want.
Don't be sad about spending money; be happy you
bought something.
What a funny way God has come to me today.
Lastly, one of my favorites, and it can be used as a meal
blessing: Bless the hands that brought this food from the
Earth to the table.

Cameron Lee
Cameron was born and raised in Unity. She feels truly blessed to be so loved and treasured
by her extended family (including parents, DJ Lee and Lynn VanDyke-Lee), friends, and church
congregation. Cameron served in her high school student government and class leadership for
four years, this past year as Student Government Association president. She played varsity fastpitch softball for four years, this past year serving as team captain. She was named the past three
years to the All Palm Beach County team. Cameron is entering the Florida State University
Sports Management program in the fall with multiple academic scholarships. After graduation,
she plans to start a sports foundation for underprivileged youth. She deeply thanks the
congregation and staff for their strong support of the Unity of Delray Beach youth program.

GOD is ALL Principle 1 (Continued from p. 1)

By Rev. Nancy Norman
God is all-powerful (omnipotent). God is the only
power that is. God is All-Power; thus, all things are
possible with Him. (from The Revealing Word by Unity's
co-founder, Charles Fillmore). There can be no evil
power, for God is All-Power and is a mighty force for
good. Evil is a parasite. It has no permanent life of
itself; its whole existence depends on the life it borrows
from its parent, and when its connection with the
parent is severed, nothing remains. (The Revealing
Word)
God is All-Power, unfailing, limitless to every
degree; all things are possible with Him. If things feel
challenging and impossible, call upon the Power of
God, knowing that there is a Power for good in the
universe greater than we are. We can use the Power, we
can call upon this Power; and the response is

immediate.
... God can give all of himself to each of His
children. He does not distribute Himself that each may
have a part, but to each one He gives all of Himself as
fully as if there were no others. (Aiden. W. Tozer)
There is only one Presence and one Power, God
the ever-present Spirit of Absolute good! If we have a
need in our lives, we must remember this first mighty
principle and focus on God, not the difficulty, situation
or concern.
The solution to any problem is never found on the
level of the problem. We must lift our eyes and our
consciousness, and remember that the very Power and
Intelligence that created the universe dwells within us,
and nothing is impossible, incurable, or unattainable.

We live, move and have our Being in God. The Psalmists understood this mighty Truth, and so eloquently put it
into words and song:
I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of mud and mire; He
set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
(Psalm 40:1,2,3)
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
If I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me. (Psalm 139: 78)
We don't have to concern ourselves with the trials of life God is with us. We don't need to worry or be fearful of
health, prosperity or relationships, God is with us, as close as our heartbeat, our very breath. There is always a divinely
perfect solution, underlying every challenging situation. Wherever we are God is, and where God is, all is well!
God is all, both invisible and visible. One Presence, Knowledge and Power is All. This one that is All is Perfect Life, Love,
Intelligence and Substance... Statement of Fundamentals.
Great things begin to happen when we begin to know this affirmation of Truth:

God Is All!
