Ms. Baileys Classroom Rules and Policies

English
Welcome back! In our class we will be challenged by our readings, in our writing
assignments, and by each other in class discussions. I have high expectations for
this years group of students and will accept nothing but your best work. Our
mission is to become better readers, better writers, and better thinkers.
The Rules: The following rules are imperative for all students to be successful in
class.
1. Be respectful

______________________________________________________________________________
Students who are disrespectful may be talked to privately, kept after class,
during lunch or after school, have a phone call home, have a seating chart
change, be referred to the dean and have a meeting with teacher, counselor
and parents.
2. Be responsible

Students who are irresponsible may be talked to privately, kept after class,
during lunch or after school, have special requirements like grade/classroom
checks, a phone call home and/or a meeting with teacher, counselor and
parents.
Enforced School Policies: As per district and school policies, cell phones are not
to be used during class. If you are caught using your cell phone in class (this
includes checking the time), it will be confiscated temporarily and returned at the
end of the period. If you have your cell phone confiscated more than once, the dean
may take serious action.

Tardy Policy: Students who are tardy will forfeit their opportunity to earn points
for beginning of class prompt writing assignments.

Students with borderline grades will be evaluated on attendance and participation. I

feel compelled to tell you that receiving an A means you have done truly excellent
work and have gone above and beyond the basic expectations. Likewise, very few
students who turn in all work with effort will fail. Your grade will be a reflection of
the points you have earned by completing work and being an active participant in
class. Please do not hesitate to call or email me.
I have read and understood the rules listed here and the policies listed on my
procedures sheet.
