1.

INTRODUCTION
COMPANY plans to develop Mila-A and Asti-A gas fields to supplement production to Banuwati-A,
called as BWA which is the existing main gas production platform in Central Area.
The Asti-A gas field is about 6.6 km away from Banuwati-A. New monopod well head platform is to
be developed for Asti-A including pipelines to deliver Asti-A production to Banuwati-A platform.
The CO2 content in the Mila-A well fluids will be 17.88-45.00% (mole), and the CO2 content in the
Asti-A well fluids will be in the order of estimated 32.68% (mole). The Mila-A and Asti-A gas
pipelines will tie-in to BWA platform independently by new risers.
Mila-A and Asti-A gas will flow into the production separator at BWA through independent subsea
pipeline and riser and then subsequently flow to TEG gas dehydration in the initial stage. During the
later years due to the depletion of the well head pressures the gas will be routed to the suction of
the compressors which are on Banuwati-K (BWK) gas compression platform which bridge
connected to the BWA platform. The BWK gas compression platform is a separate project and to be
installed and commissioned by 2013.

This report presents the detail engineering results of the braced monopod ASTI-A platform. The
results of the following analysis are included:

5. ANALYSIS RESULT
4.1

General
The analyses for in-service condition and pre-service condition are performed in detail engineering
design. In-service analyses include in-place analysis for operating and storm conditions, seismic
analysis and fatigue analysis. Pre-service analyses include lifting analysis, transportation analysis
and pile/conductor drivability & stick-up analysis. The allowable stress increased involved in
various analysis are generally listed in following table:

The analysis results are introduced briefly as following section. Detailed results are described in
relevant reports.

In-place Analysis
The appropriate load conditions that will bring the most severe effects on the structure are adopted
in the design. They are obtained by the combination of various simultaneous design loads in
operating or storm environmental condition. The braced monopod is simulated to be a threedimensional rigid frame with an appropriate boundary condition. The member stress levels and the
ratio of these stresses are compared with allowable stress levels established by appropriate
design codes. Inplace analysis indicates that all members satisfy the requirements. Maximum
member U.C is 0.98 (member L004-L027). All piles were checked against the requirement of
API RP2A as well as AISC for operating, storm and up-lift condition and minimum pile axial
safety factor is 1.75. The minimum safety factor is found in storm condition as tabulated below.

All tubular joints have been code checked to API RP 2A requirements and the maximum joint
check is joint V016 with UC load 0.047 and UC strength 0.911. Maximum joint deflections are not
more than criteria, L/240 of the free span between supports. The maximum deflection of jacket
structure is occurred at riser with deflection ratio 488.8. The maximum deflection at topside is
occurred at member M344-M050 on Mezzanine deck with deflection ratio 1953.6.

Seismic Analysis
Seismic analysis was performed in accordance with the API RP 2A-WSD guidelines. Pile ultimate
capacities have been extracted from SACS output listing. The pile safety factor for Strength and
Ductility Level are tabulated below.

The results satisfy the pile safety factors specified in the basis of design i.e. 1.50 for SLE and 1.00
for DLE and thus the foundation has adequate capacity to resist the loads from the structure in
seismic conditions. The maximum unity checks of the caisson and piles are satisfactory.
The structural members have been checked against the requirements of API RP 2A and AISC for
seismic conditions. For the strength requirement, the basic allowable stresses for members are
increased by 70%. No member stresses are found to exceed the allowable stresses; the highest

member utilization is 0.71 for SLE (Member M147-M166). Similarly, for DLE, all members are
found to remain in elastic condition; the highest member utilization is 0.78 (Member M050-M068).
Thus, all members satisfy the code checking requirements.
For the strength level earthquake, twice times dynamic load are combined with one time gravity
load to performed punching shear stress check. The basic allowable stresses for joints were
increased by 70%. No tubular joints are found to exceed the allowable stresses; the highest joint
utilization is 0.906 (Joint V021). Thus, all tubular joints satisfy the code checking requirements.

Fatigue Analysis
All primary joints on the monopod had been checked for fatigue service life of 10 years with the
design factor of 5.0. All joint have fatigue life as per the requirement. Subsequently, chord can of
62OD x 2.5 were provided to the chord members. These joints required profile welding with toe
grinding as per result below, all joints have fatigue life as per the required. For joint with the
lowest fatigue life is summarized below.

The fatigue lives listed have included a safety factor of 5.0 (i.e. if the listed life is 10.0 years, the
computed fatigue life is 5*10 years).

Lifting Analysis
Lifting Analysis for the topside module and guardian sleeve are performed. The topside consists of
two parts, the topside module which includes the main deck and mezzanine deck and the cellar
deck module which includes the cellar deck and subcellar deck.
For the loadout condition, the module is pushed from fabrication yard to the barge by using
hydraulic jack-up. And for installation condition, the modules are lifted from the barge to the
substructure by four lifting points with one hook point on the derrick.
The analysis results indicate that all members satisfy the requirements, and all joint cans satisfy
the requirements. Load factor 2.0 are applied to member directly connected with sling, others are
factored by 1.35. Maximum member (Member M166-U072) UC with load factor 2.0 is 0.92.

Maximum member (Member M147-M166) UC with load factor 1.35 is 0.82. Maximum joint (Joint
V071) U.C is 0.918.
The maximum static sling load for ASTI-A Deck is 313.79 KIPS and The maximum static sling load
for ASTI-A Guardian Sleeve is 55.94 KIPS.
This section includes the design calculation for lifting padeye, shackle and sling dimension. For
stress check for calculation is according to API RP 2A WSD and AISC.
For Topside
Sling Dimension : 6x37 Class, with IWRC; Drawn Galvanized and Uncoated Cable with
3.75 rope diameter with Maximum Breaking Load 585 MT.
Shackle Dimension
: Use G-2140 Alloy wide body shackle with 4.75 pin diameter
and 200 tons shackle working load limit.
For Guardian Sleeve
Sling Dimension : 6x37 Class, with IWRC; Drawn Galvanized and Uncoated Cable with
1.375 rope diameter with Maximum Breaking Load 87.1 MT.
Shackle Dimension
: Use G-2130 or S2130 Alloy wide body shackle with 2.04 pin
diameter and 25 tons shackle working load limit.

Transportation Strength Analysis


In transportation strength analysis, the results indicate that the topside and guardian sleeve
basically satisfies API RP 2A-WSD requirements. Maximum member U.C is 0.93, located at below
mezzanine deck. Several joints in guardian sleeve have strength unity check more than 1 as
tabulated below.

Pile/Conductor Drivability Analysis


The caisson and pile drivability analysis satisfies the API RP 2A-WSD requirements. The analysis
results indicate that its possible to drive the caisson penetration into target depth 245 feet by using
the IHC S-280 and IHC S-500 hydro hammer, the pile target depth penetration 205 feet by using
the IHC S-90 and S-280 hydro hammer, and conductors target depth penetration 185 feet by using
the IHC S-90, S-280 and S-500 hydro hammer.

The static pile stresses and strength checks were performed in accordance to the criteria outlined in the
API RP 2A. The effective length factor, K, is taken as 2.10.

Loadout Analysis
Results from the analysis indicate that the deck structure is adequate under loadout conditions.
The members and joints have been checked according to AISC ASD9th Edition and API RP 2A
21st Edition design requirements. One third increase in basic allowable stress is applicable for
loadout extreem conditions. The summary of the analysis results is member 0032-M333 with U.C
0.90 and joint punching shear maximum is joint V021 with U.C 0.869.

6. CONCLUSION
From the analysis above, all the structure members and joints can satisfy the requirements.
