    CMS Choir Parent & Student Guide

    Parents and Students,

    September. All students are encouraged to


    participate.

    I would like to welcome you to a new year at CMS


    and our award winning choir department at
    Conway. You have chosen to be part of a program
    that can offer you many opportunities for growth
    and provide experiences in music that you will
    remember for a lifetime. This guide is designed to
    introduce you to the many facets of the Conway
    Public Schools Choral Department and to answer
    as many questions as possible.

    1 Offence: This offense will be documented on my


    records. This form does not have to be signed and
    serves as a written warning to their disruptive
    behavior.

    CHOIR GRADING PROCEDURE


    100 pts. Per week

    Again, welcome to CMS choir program and get


    ready for an exciting year!

    CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

    Be on the risers with your choir binder and


    pencil when class starts.
    Give your best effort.
    Food, beverages, and gum are not allowed in
    the choir room.
    Have a good attitude - 100% effort, without
    complaint.

    FUNDRAISING
    Each year our choirs participate in an optional
    fundraiser sponsored by Cherrydale. This
    money is spent on new music, equipment, field
    trips, and other means to enhance our students
    music education. We will begin our Fundraiser in

    signed and returned no later than two days after the
    warning is given. Parents, this is so you are aware of
    the behavior issues that are going on in choir.

    Verbal Warning: This warning may occur at any


    point during the class period. After this verbal
    warning, I will start documenting any behavior issues.

    (20 pts/day)

    The daily grade is determined by the students


    adherence to the prescribed rehearsal techniques
    as outlined in the state frameworks for vocal music
    I-IV and all of the pertaining strands.

    3 Offence: The last offence requires a written


    discipline referral to the Principal. At this point,
    students can be removed from the choir.
    I will gladly conference with any parent/student if the
    need arises. These are the rules currently in place for
    ALL choirs in the Conway Public School District.

    2. Concert Attendance
    Attendance is required for school performances.

    Further assessment may be given to enhance
    learning.

    CONSEQUENCES
    I will always be fair in my classroom. I always allow
    time for fun and music, but I do not allow time for
    disrespect.
