REHERASAL EXPECTATIONS
It is expected that all students adhere to the guidelines listed in the LVCP Student Handbook. In
addition, the following standards are in place to help our class achieve its goals: (please refer to
the GRADING POLICY below)
1. Be professional. Students should arrive to rehearsals and performances early. If you will
be missing any portion of (or an entire) rehearsal or performance, it is your
responsibility to inform Ms. Felker beforehand.
2. Be prepared. Bring your music, your instrument, and all necessary materials.
3. Be positive. Please refrain from using inappropriate language in the music room.
Consider if your actions will improve the quality of our rehearsals, or if they will be more
of a distraction.
4. Be productive. At the beginning of each rehearsal, make sure you are ready to absorb
new information and ideas. Make sure you are constantly applying what youve learned
in rehearsals to your work in sectionals, as well as during your practice sessions at
home.
CONSEQUENCES
In the event that inappropriate behavior is exhibited by a student, or classroom expectations are
not being met, the following consequences will occur:

1st Offense: Verbal warning to student

2nd Offense: Student is isolated or moved, and after class conference
3rd Offense: Mandatory office hours, and parent communication
4th Offense: Referral for class-suspension of student
Severity Clause: Any severe act of defiance, disrespect or disobedience will result in
immediate referral and the possibility of removal from the music classroom
Lost or damaged music: Students are responsible for covering the cost of replacing lost
or damaged music

GRADING POLICY
40% Rehearsal Participation
Each student will receive a maximum of 4 points per rehearsal, according to how they
meet rehearsal expectations (see above). A tardy will result in the loss of 1 point and
unexcused absences result in the loss of all daily points. Failure to bring music folder
and/or instrument to rehearsal will result in the loss of 1 point each. (Students may still
earn 2 points for remaining positive and productive)
30% Performances
One of the main goals of rehearsal is to prepare for performances. Therefore, unless
indicated on the LVCP Music Performance Calendar, student participation at all
performances is required. Students are responsible for communicating any schedule
conflicts with Ms. Felker at least one month prior to any scheduled performances.
20% Weekly Video Practice Records
Instead of traditional paper practice records, students will record and document their
home practice online via Google forms and video recordings. Specific details on this
process will be explained and examined during the first rehearsal.
5%
In class play/sing tests, chair challenges, and exams
These forms of assessment will be communicated to students at least one week in
advance.
5%
Music Projects
Throughout the year, there will be opportunities for students to think outside (of) the
box, and to design, develop, and produce projects that will help supplement their own
learning as musicians, as well as to support the music program in general. Music projects
for this 2016-2017 academic year are to be determined, but will be communicated to
students at least one month in advance.
BATHROOM POLICY
Students are allowed to use the bathroom as necessary during rehearsals. To indicate a need to
be excused to the bathroom, please use the ASL sign for bathroom, as demonstrated in
class. Before you exit the music room, please sign-out on the Bathroom Release Form, and
make sure to be back within an appropriate amount of time. If caught abusing the bathroom
policy, students will be subject to a 15 minute mandatory office meeting with Ms. Felker, or
longer depending on how much class time was missed.
LVCP BOOSTERS
This committee of parents and staff meet once a month to plan, prepare, and execute the
variety of fundraising efforts that exist at our school to help support our drama and music
departments, sports, and clubs. There is a regular need for more parent volunteers, and if you
are interested in helping out, please speak with our Boosters President, Ines Heinz. You can
reach her at: auraheinz@comcast.net
